Man, my eye really wants to complete that circle! Those are both images to be proud of! This morning, I had a 16"-long "dew shield" on my ED 80, and the sun was still hitting the edge of the lens. Tomorrow will be worse. If we had crystal blue skies, it would be easier. With the haze/high clouds near the sun, and the danged cottonwood seeds it is hard! Yesterday afternoon, right after the sun went behind the trees on the west side of my yard, I tried to find Venus with some 10x50 binoculars. Not a chance. There were hundreds and hundreds of cottonwood seeds, from 20 feet up to hundreds. Maybe thousands. It was impossible to search for Venus among all that. I actually ended up laughing.

Dave, I gave it a try. Registax seemed to have trouble chasing the moon around in the frames, so I cropped each image first so that the moon is roughly centered in each frame. My crop was a 400 x 400 px square, so I used the 256 size alignment box. If I centered the moon in the box, it resulted in some of the images falling outside the stack. I'm not sure why. I tried setting the alignment box off center a little, so that a good part of the moon was completely in the box, and that seemed to work. For the image here, I also sharpened the final stack and adjusted the color a little. Let me know if this helps, or if you need more info.
