Election night plans... survey.

I do have a prediction though: Trump will declare victory long before enough votes are in for anyone to know who the victor really is.  Then, if he loses, he'll declare fraud.  His proof?  He knew hours ago that he won. LOL
Is the Eugene V. Debs memorial barbecue tonight?  😎

Election night plans... survey.

I remember signs like the one you posted, so I assume it is still against the law in CO to display political signs, merchandise, and apparel within so many yards of a polling place.

Almost no one in Colorado votes in person. I mention this every cycle, but I really do love the Colorado system.  Ballots are mailed to all registered voters. Most everyone returns their ballot in a dropbox. This is super critical, because we have such long and complicated ballots. Mine was six pages this year!  Six long complicated pages, including 17 statewide ballot initiatives, and at least half a dozen Denver tax issues.  My wife and I spent about an hour voting at the kitchen table, reading the election guide, and reading the advice and recommendations on ballad initiatives published by various pundits. Can you imagine taking an hour in a polling place booth? So, mail in-drop off voting is pretty much mandatory in Colorado.

The voter must sign the ballot envelope or the ballot is not counted and software with a human back up verifies each signature. It appears to be very, very secure.

Most importantly, in my opinion, the ballot must be received in the drop off box or received by mail, on or before Election Day.  Postmarks do not count. This is splendid because we know who won various races in Colorado right away, and although I do not think election fraud is a big problem, spending a week waiting for postmarked ballots to show up and be counted is rocket fuel for the conspiracy theorists.  I am glad my state does not contribute to that “problem.”

I don't think a lack of signs in San Marcos or any other place in Southern California means a thing.  There is no EC drama in your state, and sadly mine too.  I am concerned that Jim M's observations are ominous though.  There should be a ton of yard signs in MI supporting both candidates of course.  If the Ds in MI are not motivated to at least put up a yard sign, that is indeed a bad sign for those who would prefer not to see Trump win.

I don't think so.  Our upscale lib neighborhood in Denver is full of Harris yard signs.   At the mountain place, which is in a purple county, there are signs of all sorts.

The fact that Moscheck's Meat and Produce Company has been successful for decades in the face of competition from cut-rate grocery sources like Walmart and Super Target is a testament to Jim, his family, hard work, and the American Dream.  So in this instance, like so many others, your petty jibe falls flat in the eyes of any rational reader.

Personally, I am sick of what politics has become because of Trump. Go back and listen to what republicans, including Vance, said about him during the 2016 primaries. It wasn't pretty.

Now they've all capitulated.

Now, both sides could do with a little less outrage, bald faced lying, and screaming.
Preliminary comment - I am going out on a limb here and writing down some fairly dark thoughts.  To the extent any of this sounds like I am agreeing with Richard's rants above, this is unintentional.

First, we are not done with Trump for good, even if he loses.  Of course there will be months of allegations that the election was stolen, all of which will come to nothing other than a few moron lawyers, who signed on to specious litigation, being sanctioned.  Trump will dominate the news though.

Then, we still have to deal with the NY sentencing.  I think that Trump wins the appeal in NY easily, laughably easily.  The way that case was prosecuted and the fact that the jury did not have to determine the existence of a specific secondary crime to any legal standard is beyond the pale.  So, Trump will dominate the political headlines for months or years based upon the faulty NY prosecution and his inevitable vindication on appeal.  Along the way he will cultivate a new batch of resentful MAGA faithful.  I think Vance's chances in 2028 are 1000x better if Trump loses tonight than if he wins.  The Democratic party will regret the lawfare strategy in the next four years, even if they win the presidency today.

Then we still have to deal with Jack Smith's J6 prosecution.  I have seen enough evidence to think this one is a close call, but let's assume that Smith wins.  Is it really good for the country to incarcerate or otherwise punish a figure, based upon a highly political matter, when that person is totally beloved by 1/3 of the population?  If Smith wins and actually moves to sentencing, I guarantee a Vance victory in 2028 with the pardoning of Trump being the only issue that matters.  It would be far better for the Democrats if Harris drops this prosecution, and basically ignores Trump going forward.

Also, if he is not dead, Trump will run in 2028, assuming he loses today.  His supporters would support his barely animated corpse, so he would probably get the nomination over Haley again.  Would Vance or Rubio run against him?  He would lose to Harris again of course, but the chaos is far from over, Jim M., very far indeed.  Dark Jim the RINO.

Early Voting

Posted By James Brown

CNNs early voting charts are still ominous, in my opinion.  The experts say that early voting data is pretty much meaningless, still, these charts suggest pro-Trump movement in all of the swing states.  The standard reply is that the R's are "cannibalizing" their election day advantage, but that seems silly to me.

Yes, absolutely.
