Of course, I didn't expect people to not circumvent it. It was easily by-passed and pointless. All the travel bans did is cause a panic that resulted in a massive surge of people all returning at once without any protocols in place to screen them or isolate people who were infected. It was, in short, an unmitigated disaster.
As I recall, I did not say anything negative about the China travel ban. I did say that I thought the Europe travel ban was unnecessary, an utter disaster and that it was a xenophobic knee-jerk reaction most likely influenced by Stephen Miller. The point is that even at the time the travel bans were being enacted, officials inside the CDC and the DHS were privately saying among themselves that the bans were too late and would have little effect. It turns out they were right.
For all of us that have been paying attention. For those of us that have been listening to the doctors and the scientists. Those of us who can look at data and conclude for ourselves that the infection is spreading exponentially and that the death rate is excessively high. Anyone who wasn't blind to Trump's lying and gas-lighting has known for a long time that he was downplaying the pandemic for his gain. Having him admit it on tape to Woodward only proves with a doubt that we have been right all along.
