However, Laura Loomer is trying to do a "Loomer" on the deal:
"Conservative provocateur Laura Loomer, who has been a staunch supporter of President Trump, called him out over the weekend as the White House prepares to receive a $400 million Boeing jet from the Qatari government."
“I love President Trump. I would take a bullet for him,” Loomer wrote in a post on the social platform X. “But, I have to call a spade a spade. We cannot accept a $400 million ‘gift’ from jihadists in suits.”
“This is really going to be such a stain on the admin if this is true,” Loomer said.
“I’m so disappointed.”

Did Richard hack your account?
"The Qatari government said
a final decision hadn’t been made."
“Before Trump’s post trumpeting the idea, Ali Al-Ansari, Qatar’s media attaché, said in a statement that the
“possible transfer of an aircraft for temporary use as Air Force One is
currently under consideration between Qatar’s Ministry of Defense and the US Department of Defense.”
"But
the matter remains under review by the respective legal departments, and no decision has been made,” the statement added."
"Meanwhile, administration officials,
anticipating ethics concerns, have prepared an analysis arguing that accepting the plane would be legal, according to ABC. The Constitution’s Emoluments Clause bars anyone holding government office from accepting any present, emolument, office or title from any “King, Prince, or foreign State,” without congressional consent." (Fat chance this is ethical - Jim)
All of the above quotes are from your original AP article. Numerous other sources confirm the plane has not yet been officially offered, and certainly has not been accepted. An honest (but over long) headline might be:
"Qatar floats idea of offering jet to US, Trump shamefully signals he would accept it, pending legal analysis of ethical concerns."I'm not denying that Trump would love to accept this, but your header of "Trump Accepts...." is an exaggeration
at least.
I think this is the sort of story that backfires regularly on the press, and causes them to further diminish what little credibility they still have. More importantly, I am convinced the press, by jettisoning any attempt at impartiality, has strengthened Trump. The press lost a ton of credibility with a majority of voters, when they joined the resistance after Trump's first election. The Democrats who march in lockstep with the press then lose access to critical strategic information, for example that Biden was too senile to run for president, or that key demographics had shifted in Trump's favor by 2024. So, among many other things, the left-biased press can be thanked for Trump's election in 2024. Here is an important essay published on these topics just after the election: https://yaschamounk.substack.com/p/dear-journalists-stop-trying-to-save
