Great use of those few hours. About a jillion galaxies in the background of the full sized image. Definitely worth the browse.

Nice shot of a really cool object. I have seen this one (best view through binoculars), but it sure is low.

And just for fun, I added some diffraction spikes for that zoom lens. I tried all sizes available with the Carboni actions and liked the way some of the star colors are more evident. I am typically not a big fan of extra spikes. Thoughts?

Web site comments wanted

Posted By Charles Hakes

Thanks for the comments - I will pass them along to the gurus. Although I have been fiddling with html since the first version of Mozaic, these pages are done in Dreamweaver, which is new for me and has about as many buttons as Photoshop. So in 6-7 years I might be able to explain what it does. I just add content to the template given to me.

Very nice. The color balance looks a little different than the "standard" palette (?), but very pleasing. Maybe I always expect more H-alpha?

Cable management

Velcro is great. I had to get an extension cable on our SBIG power supply just to route everything in one flexible bundle.

And I still really like your "third" rings.

A Late M42

Great contrast control here. (And not too late for 42.) I like that you could use all the various exposure times. Is that something you just plug into a program and it compensates automatically? Or do you have to layer tediously in Photoshop? I have tried somewhat successfully with only two different times, but you have lots there.

Nice. Thats obviously how to get rid of edge distortion/chromatic aberration on the ultra-wide shots! What was your final picture size? (I am assuming more than 1024x768?)

I think the question would be - is anything in there NOT a galaxy? Nice job. Color coming?
