Fine Focuser

Just hot off the WSP press, David ;-). A new motor focus add-on for the Focusmate was shown by Uncle Al at WSP! I can hardly wait to see the pic and get one for my Focusmate wink for a hand-free focusing at last.

I'd like to submit however that the images showed nothing about the comparison of the performance of these two fine scopes. To compare, the imager would need to use his LPI to try to capture the image like it was done with the LX-90 ;-). Still the results would be: aperture wins ;-).

That's fantastic, Paul!!!

I've had difficulty imaging Saturn with my 4-inch APO using a 5X Powermate because it looked awefully dim on the screen. So I can appreciate how difficult it is to get good image like your excellent one through only 4-inch of aperture.

I look foward to see more.

I suggest looking into the Focusmate, William. Also, Tele Vue has announced the Focusmate Driver will give you hand-free focusing.

Tele Vue does not disclose the glass type used. Good thing too in my opinion as we can see recently how so many people focus on FPL53 vs whatever and lost sight of the mating element ;-).

The end result is what count.

TV101 on Skyview Pro?

Although much bigger than the Pronto ;-), you'll like the much larger aperture and very wide flat field of the TV-101.

I hope Jim Phelps will chime in. He used to have this mount which he mounted his TV-101 on.

Moon Filters

I have an ND filter which I rarely use even with my 8" Dob. I prefer to increase magnification but that only works if the seeing cooperates.

I've been trying to find the "perfect lunar filter" and alas I've yet to find one :-(. Here's some pics I took hoping for one filter to be better than another :-(.
