Are There Actual Signed Trade Deals?

When I quit manufacturing carts for essentially every single Ultrasound dealer in the US, which sold MORE in the US, than the carts designed by the engineers there back at Hitachi in Japan, they were a bit perturbed.

I'm sure I've told this story before, but I was called BY Hitachi and had a personal meeting with one of their reps Mike Ikeo here in Colorado. He indicated to me in no uncertain terms that Hitachi was not exactly happy that in the front of my carts I placed the name of MY company RAD Medical screened onto the paint, that was prominently placed and easily seen.

Their concern after seeing MY cart, was that their customers, seeing RAD Medical in front, prominently there for the world to see, would think that the Ultrasound Machine, the 405 unit for which my cart was used, was made by RAD Medical rather than Hitachi Medical.

In no uncertain terms they informed me that there would be a big legal problem if I continued.

So I had tags made that had the name Hitachi and their logo on it, and at their request every cart I sold from then on had the Hitachi name on it. I also had to send replacement tags to every dealer in the nation to cover up the name of my company RAD Medical.

Now I only relayed that story so that I can watch as James Lacey tells me I'm full of shit and that I never designed Medical Carts for Hitachi Medical.    LOL!!!
Interesting story, and very believable.  Why would you share something like this, but not tell us the name of the school the granted your degree? It doesn’t make any sense.

No offense, Lily Tomlin was very funny, but I’ll take Farrah Fawcett thank you!

If we were voting, I’d vote “associates degree” too.   Not that there is a problem with that.  The problem of course is the original lie or embellishment, that Rich has now hidden underneath the ruse of “I don’t take orders from James Lacey”.  I guess that is where this ends, we all draw our own conclusions and move on to the next thing.

They can demand anything they like.

Plus it pisses off to the maximum level, those like James Lacey who thinks that if he continues berating me, in his feeble attempts to beat me down, that I will submit to His demands.

That will NEVER happen.  James Lacey doesn't Give me orders to do anything.  He obviously thinks that his tactic will work but I can assure you it will not.

Enjoy your day!  smile
Whatever.

Sometimes you show a glimmer of collegiality, like you did with the Hitachi story above.  Gets my hopes up.  My hopes are never up for long, though, this, “James Lacey doesn’t order me to do anything” subterfuge is so lame.  It is not like James Lacey came out of the blue and demanded your academic credentials. You were the one who claimed you had an engineering degree.  Sadly, everyone has now come to the conclusion that you have an associates degree or no degree at all. No need for you to post that you don’t give “two shits” about what I or anyone else thinks about you. That too is sad.

I've been thinking about credibility for the last few minutes.  Credibility as a concept involves honesty, integrity, and expertise of course, but the word credibility further requires that third parties recognize the credible person's honesty, integrity, and expertise.  Conceptually, unlike honesty and other virtues, credibility can not exist in a vacuum.  Credibility is earned from a third party who recognizes another's honesty, integrity, and expertise.

Why does this matter?  I'm trying to figure out why Richard would say what I bolded above.  Everyone who has read this thread now believes he lied about his academic achievements.  In addition, Richard has made it abundantly clear that he does not care what we think.

Ok, I have no problem believing Richard does not care what anyone else thinks.   How could he post what he does if he cared what readers thought of him?  So from Richard's point of view, I guess it is reasonable to say that he is not experiencing a credibility crisis, because for him credibility is meaningless and unimportant.  As noted above, credibility is something earned from third parties, and if one's ego is so huge that he literally does not care what any third parties may think, why fuss with values like credibility?

This sort of extreme narcissism is reflected in the White House of course.  Trump has no credibility with anyone because he lies and exaggerates constantly, reflexively, and unnecessarily.  Trump also does not give a damn what other people think.  In his ego-fueled daily mania, credibility is simply not a concept he acknowledges.   Valuing credibility requires that one care what other people think.

My musing is not particularly profound, but it has helped me sort out why Richard would deny that he has a credibility crisis.  Richard's stance, which is either laughable or tragic to those of us who value credibility, would make perfect sense to Trump or others who truly and completely do not care what other people think.

Hi Dave: The headline is a little over-blown for sure. American science is proceeding, I can assure you. Government funding cuts are a problem, and cuts have hit my wife’s industry (renewable energy) particularly hard. But this is not the “end“.  Far from it. Look at the NASDAQ performance recently. The people investing in those tech companies sure don’t think the end of US exceptionalism in research, development, science, technology, engineering, and medicine are behind us.

I have personally and recently had very good experiences with the American healthcare system. Me, my wife, our extended family, and especially our elderly parents have received care in the past year.

My wife’s father passed peacefully yesterday in a lovely hospice setting at the age of 95.   He passed after receiving years of exemplary healthcare, his first of a couple heart attacks was in the 1970s. He also passed after several weeks of loving and expertly rendered end of life care. I’m not sure how all of that is handled in Canada, but my wife and I are sad, but extremely happy with the US system right now.

I fully understand that other people may not be so fortunate, of course. Also, I’m not wanting to say that no healthcare system exists that cannot be improved. Similarly no system exists, which cannot be set back by crappy governance. But these setbacks are not “the end.”

How about that Time cover though! That is really nasty.  J

Dave, is this cover a spoof?   I can not find it on the web, but I’m using my phone.   If it is a spoof you should have mentioned that.   Jim

Thanks.   Yes, he had a really good run.   He went out very comfortably too.   Could not ask for more.

Thanks.

I thought it was real, probably a combo of fatigue and cold medicine!   Time has too much integrity to publish “the end of science”. Although, I am well aware of articles in the Atlantic and elsewhere to that effect.   I stand by my original post.   Those inclined to “end of American science” hysterics and other wild-eyed political exaggerations do more harm than good.   Social media sure eats it up though.
