Seriously, though, this reveals one of the key issues with bird photography: the longer the glass you can get, the better. The egret looks really small in the image, and is also overexposed--probably for the same reason (the meter didn't lock on the tiny bit of bright white in the total frame).

Keep shooting, but if you are going ot try birds, work on getting closer and maybe getting a teleconverter for that lens.

Caterpillar - Horrible Processing

Those are monarch caterpillars, and as you have deduced, the butterfly weed is a milkweed. I have butterfly weed up here in my native plant gardens specifically for the monarch caterpillars to eat, although the flowers are also a pretty orange color smile .

Very nice, Ty, but I think there is a little too much of a jump in contrast between the bright blues and the midtones. The look is a little excessively 3-D. Otherwise, looks awesome...great data and good work.

Canon 20D vs. 20Da (Image Link)

Here's a quick photo of my dog, Astro, with the 20Da--rather appropriate, no? She is a willing subject. If you look closely at an original you can see that the image is just a touch red...most people wouldn't notice it. I have found that using "Adjustments-->Auto Color" in Photoshop CS2 quickly corrects the image, better than trying adjust the RAW. That is what I did here. Took less than half a second.

This was what I was hoping for--a replacement for my 20D that was not just a pure astro-camera.
