Digitized images from old magazines

Posted By Charles Hakes

Good luck on finding them. I didn't see this particular object on "older" APOD, but I do think it is interesting to browse some of those older images and see how things have improved in the last 15 years. Just go to the archive link and start at the bottom.

Very nice. I really like all the goodies in the background.

That image looks great. Since I never tried guiding "by eye" at anywhere near that focal length, I am impressed than anyone has ever done that. (Those sub-pixel corrections by newer guide scopes are great.)

So what is the image scale on the full sized picture here? "/pixel?

the Whale

Looks great. Actually, this is the first time I could see the "whale" as the first thing I thought of when looking at this galaxy. Maybe I just never looked the fins with the correct frame of mind?

YEA! My MI-250 mount arrived today!!!!!

Sounds great. Enjoy. In the mean time... FLC is waiting on a new G-11 to replace a defunct LX200 mount.

Nice set. That is one of my favorite galaxies. I have thought about "dual" imaging several times, but thinking is as far as I get.

Excellent results. It is always fun to get useful data while fiddling with mount operations. I am a bit curious as to what your "pre-modified" tracking was like.

Rho Nebula AP140

Nice image - tiny stars and smooth clouds. (Am I supposed to see a greek letter "rho" here, or is that just identification?)

Very nice pinwheel. This could be my monitor, but the outer arms look a little more greenish rather than cyan-ish. Have you tried to do any color matching to your other camera? (I guess this could open a whole different issue of what counts as "correct" color...) Still looks good though.
