NGC5907

That looks good - you have brought out those dust lanes nicely. Purely coincidence that I posted this same object this morning on the deep sky forum page.

Great group. (Funny thing about more data -> more fun to look at.) And the rest of your recent posts are really nice. You must have been having a string of clear nights.

Oops - NGC 5907 was flipped vertically. It is fixed now. (But can anyone really tell the difference on this one!?)

Is a light box needed for good flats?

Posted By Charles Hakes

The link is to a set up for taking flats in the middle of the night. (This is either the second or third iteration, and there is now a smaller T-shirt hoop that is even a better fit.) And it works almost as good as dusk. There is a T-shirt on an embroidery hoop over the front of the scope, and a (hopefully) uniformly illuminated board it is looking at. These are not too bad, but the dusk sky has given generally better results. And I do like the T-shirt at dusk too. It may only be because of practice.

I should take a picture and post it of a light box "failure." Very ambitious, but not enough battery power...

Well done. Nice processing. Those are always challenging for me to get right.

Nice. That really does show off how matched those two are. I don't know of any others so similar.

Very cool M33. You got those star forming regions to stand out nicely.

Nice image here. I can relate to those hazy skies. I like the light background on these monochrome shots too. That way you can see all the cool background stuff. As well as any imaging flaws, which I don't see here.

What were your thoughts behind selecting 5 minutes for subframes? Tracking? Saturation? Darks? I know with the LX200, I often can only get away with 5 minutes.
