Jupiter 03/13/04

Posted By Paul Maxson

Here is a sequence I shot of the twin Satellite event from last night (03/13/04) on Jupiter. Seeing got better towards the end, then the clouds kept me from seeing Io's shadow on the disk. Ah well...try another time!!!

Jupiter 03/14/04

Here is an image I shot of Jupiter last night (3/14/04). The sky was nice and clear, but the seeing was in and out...about 6/10, but I was imaging in short sleeves smile. The satellite on the right is Io. It was heading away from Jupiter.

Another good double eclipse on Jupiter opportunity

Posted By Paul Maxson

On the evening/morning of March 29/30 there will be a striking eclipse opportunity on Jupiter. From about 0100UT til 0500UT on 3/30 Io and Europa will be crossing Jupiter's face, followed by their shadows. Europa and Io will be right next to each other, almost passing each other during the event. To make the event even more striking, the GRS will be transiting at about the same time!! This follows by about a day and half the rare triple eclipse on Jupiter.

Clear skies and great seeing!!

Seeing was "mushy" last night...the image never got very steady. The final product isn't great, but still has detail.

St Patty's Jupiter

Posted By Paul Maxson

Just a touch 'o the green on this one for some reason...maybe mee dear departed pappy added it in celebration of what would have been his 79th birthday...**chuckle**.

I see an unusual dark spot on the rt edge of the GRS. It showed up in all 6 images I took. Anyone else image it?
