A Great Field Lamp

Thule is one of clients and as a result I’ve been trying out their various bike and canoe racks for my daylight endeavors. They recently came out with a great product called the Clamp Lamp - a rechargeable lamp that has a clamp on it that fits on your car rack. The idea being that you can load all your stuff on your roof in the pre-dawn hours before you get away.

I put some red paper around the white light lens and have found that the clamping action is great for field and/or backyard observing. The lens is about 6" long and 2" wide. No more flashlights for me.

On CNN’s Late Edition with Wolf Blitzer, Senator John Kerry had this to say:

“And I believe the obligation of the United States government, of the president is to rapidly internationalize the effort in Iraq, get the target off of American troops, bring other people, particularly Muslim-speaking and Arabic-speaking Muslim troops, into the region, help us diffuse the sense of American occupation, and rapidly transfer power to the Iraqis.”

Do you speak Muslim? I don’t.

May be we should give the task of finding some Muslim-speaking troops to Senator Kerry. If he succeeds, we give him the Presidency!

Bias in the Media <g>

I know, I know there is a politcs forum, but this is about Mars.

The NY Times relegated Mars coverage to the 'Metro Section' while the esteemed New York Daily News has a full page, front page color, cover shot (see below). Also the lead story on its internet edition http://www.nydailynews.com/ amd there is nothing here: http://www.nytimes.com/

I guess the New York Times is still skittish about inaccurate reporting. Pity the poor science editor there.

AT1010 mount to Panoramic

Does anyone know if the base plate on the Stellarvue AT1010 will match up and mount with the TV Panoramic/Telepod head? Or is some adapter needed?
