To answer your second question my latest 8 inch F/7 unobstructed scope on my web site uses correctors that fix the tilt aberrations without introducing any more aberrations. They can't fix coma or SA of the primary however. Collimation sensitivity is the same as a F/7 Newt.

I'd recommend you make a spherometer. All you really need is a good indicator and some ball bearings. It'll be more accurate than what you are trying to do.

You're not talking about my friend who is making a 20 inch f/8 unobstructed Chief are you? The secondary will be mounted on a "ladder" attached to the mirror box. He says the eyepiece will be lower than his f/5.5 Newt.
