DWB-111 Propeller Nebula HaRGB

I like the hi-rez version. The colors are significantly different between the two?

Finally an image!

Very nice looking M8. I like the colors and shading. For the record, I can see the dark circles too, but I wonder if that is some kind of artifact from the magnifier? Even without it, they "look" sharpened on close inspection, but from any "comfortable" viewing distance they just look like pinpoints. Could it be some artifact from the shrinking?

Good "practicing" here. Looks like a good scope at
We looked at M10 a couple of nights ago, but ended up taking M14, which I need to post.

IC 4665 - Overlooked

I like the shorter exposures where you can still tell the star colors. Nice.

The Eagle - M16

Nicely resolved, and that is quite the field of view. Good stretching to bring out the dim parts. I might have to play with the Lum/Ha mix idea. I did get some lum data, but the seeing was even less than mediocre for the Four Corners.

Photographing and Processing M31

Yes, tracking is a big issue here.

But after that, you will need some way to "stretch" the image to display both bright and dim areas. Lots of ways to do that - e.g. log stretch in AstroArt or arcsine import of a FIT into Photoshop. I think the stretch will show you what you were looking for.

Nice new setup here. And I see you don't mess around with the 10 minute "first light" images - straight for the multi-hour good stuff. Nice to be able to do that kind of thing.

Shooting Low - Cat's Paw Nebula

Looks good - those horizon color shots get tough. I guess if you really wanted, you could get an H-beta filter and compare the alpha/beta ratio to see how much reddening is due to interstellar, rather than atmospheric effects. Otherwise (on my monitor) you might want to tweak up the blue a tad to give it slightly more magenta tint. (?) But I can't say that would be "correct" for comparing to an overhead shot. In any case the color here is pleasing, which is likely what you want.

Meade 3.3 FR - defective?

Posted By Charles Hakes

Those things are really picky about how far away the image is. You might be able to use it visually with a short (SCT-type) 1.25" diagonal. Either that, or just kink your neck and look straight through.

Just for grins, I once put one on our guide scope. It finally reached focus after some careful application of a band saw on the tube. grin

M27 narrow band

I like that mix with the narrow band and blue. (Something else I'll have to try.)
