C8 Remounting

I have an older fork mounted C8. I would like to purchase a Losmandy equatorial or similar setup. Can I change my C8 mount scope to an equatorial mount or do I have to get another scope?
Lee

Parallax makes rings specifically at 8.9" for exactly this purpose on a C8. A set of those along with a dovetail will address the issue nicely. They pop up used from time to time on AM for around $100 a set. New they are a bit pricey....$220

The man Trump backed in Alabama lost. Heard somebody say Trump was overcome by Trumpism.

Sad thing is Trump was backing a McConnel supporter.....Glad the other guy won.

Classifieds search function BROKEN

Your Classifieds search function has been broken for several days.

Whenever I search for anything I get the following error message:

Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers error '80040e31' [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver]Query timeout expired D:WEBSITESASTROMARTCLASSIFIEDS../common/lib_utils.asp, line 449"

Any ETA on correction? Lacking historical Classifieds search capability really reduces the value of a Classifieds website. Thanks!

Just did two searches, one for "losmandy" and the other for "Gemini" without an issue.

Given that's two of us who are not seeing a problem with search perhaps it has something to do with the specific search data you are using. What criteria are you entering? (detailed)

Vegas massacre

Ok, now I can say assault rifle without Richard pitching a fit. So, let me get this straight. It's legal to own a semi automatic weapon, it's legal to sell whatever it was he did to modify them into automatic weapons, but it's illegal to use such a weapon? And congress is now looking to deregulate silencers? Brilliant. I guess this is making America great again? Winning? Yeah-I'm really getting tired of all this winning.

Its called a "bump stock" and yes they are legal....they do not however make it an automatic weapon....it does however allow you to shoot pretty fast but with significantly impaired accuracy.

gun violence - what to do? Asking the 'right' peop

Posted By Greg Shaffer

David Cotterell said:

Libs like me get beat up every time we go on here about the gun problem in the USA. Things such as taking a hard look at the second amendment - even re-writing it somehow, making it more difficult to get guns, banning certain kinds of weapons, background checks, cooling off periods etc. etc.... get blown away ( wink ) as being patently impossible, unconstitutional, Un-American and how could I even consider suggesting it.....and so on and so forth.

The very clear messages I get from just about every 'right minded' person here include: 1) that the 2nd permits you to have guns, so you are going to have guns. 2) that you need guns to defend property and loved ones from criminal attack. 3) that the citizens who own guns can use them to rise up against any future government tyranny. 4) no rule changes can possibly be made that criminals or deranged nutjobs will follow anyway...

It almost appears that you guys don't want to do anything at all about this problem.... Nothing. Clearly your position is that any step taken to reduce gun deaths will erode a freedom or infringe a right. And you currently seem to be giving much more weight to these freedoms and rights than to the lives of those who will be lost in the next 'mass shooting' (however that is defined). And there will be several large ones over the next while and hundreds of smaller ones (again, definition problems but let's ignore that for now....)....

So, I'm directly asking you guys here who are on the right, conservative, libertarian, strict original constitutionalist or any combination thereof, what specific steps should be taken to reduce the number of gun deaths in the USA?

Thanks for listening.

Dave

Attempting to regulate insanity is stupid.....mass killers are insane, there are always going to be mass killers, at least until they start genetically engineering the gene pool possibly.

Which is better, a nut killing 50+ people with a gun or a nut killing 160+ with a bomb(Oklahoma City) or a group of nuts killing 3000+ with planes (Trade towers)? I will take door #1 every time.

Most of the mass shootings have been committed by people suffering from at least one of two problems....fanatical leftists ie Democrats and or under the effects of psychotropic drugs (or withdrawals from them). I would certainly support legislation that tied the purchase of guns to medical records ie getting around the Hippocratic oath restrictions. ie anyone under personality altering drug treatment or recently stopping such treatments being restricted from buying or possessing guns under those conditions. MAYBE....would have to study a proposed method of implementation to say for sure.

here in this forum but what Trump did yesterday is appalling. What the hell did bringing up Elizabeth Warren and the racial slur nickname he calls her have to do with three heros of WWII who greatly helped us to win the war. Does the man not have the decency to try to be human for 15 minutes while honoring these men?

I wont dispute that it was in poor taste, nobody is perfect and certainly not Trump

And he's now questioning that the Access Hollywood tape was maybe fake. He himself attributed it to locker room talk and now he now questioning what he actually said? Not that anyone in the GOP cares anyway. It's all about the SCOTUS and tax cuts for the rich so to hell with your morals. The grabber in chief can describe his presidency accurately by using his own words: "It's bad. Really bad."

Water under the bridge regarding Access Hollywood lol....he is President, get over it smileAs for the tax cuts that's a matter of opinion and claiming its only for the rich is ridiculous

The fact that Alabama is probably going to elect an accused pedophile also says volumes as to where the conservative movement has descended.

Gotta love people happy to ruin lives without one shred of evidence not to mention those making the claims have intimate connections to the opposing party.
