“China’s GDP grew 4.9% y/y in Q3, or 3.0% quarter-on-quarter, in our estimation. Year-on-year growth was up from 3.2% in Q2, showing that the economic recovery from COVID-19 continues, led by strength in industry driven by robust investment and exports. But the GDP growth was lower than our forecast of 5.3% y/y, reflecting slowing infrastructure investment growth and lingering softness in corporate investment and consumption."
“We expect sequential (QoQ) GDP growth to ease further in Q4, led by a softening of investment momentum as credit growth decelerates. Household consumption should return to growth in Q4 from a year ago and become a more important growth-driver next year than in 2020. The slight disappointment in Q3 leads us to nudge down our forecast for overall GDP growth in 2020 to 2%, from 2.3%. We keep our forecast for 2021 GDP growth unchanged at 7.6%.”

Do you believe the numbers China supplies?
Many economists do not.
Why should people believe China's estimation of how their economy is doing?
If you googled it (extremely rare for you) you would find explanations.
"Many economists do not".  Everyone I've read does...

Paul Krugman won a Nobel Prize in economics, and he's proven over and over what a complete fool he is.

People tore up his arguments so many times on his blog and NY Times articles that he finally banned them all.

Now that IS some kind of brilliant economist.  smile

Do you see Paul Krugman's name here ? : "LOUIS KUIJS, HEAD OF ASIA ECONOMICS, OXFORD ECONOMICS, HONG KONG

In any event, here is Gordon Chang, one of the recognized foremost experts on China, regarding their GDP:

https://nationalinterest.org/feature/gordon-chang-chinas-economy-deep-trouble-158011

"The full-year does not look much better. The normally China-bullish International Monetary Fund forecasts the Chinese economy to grow only 1.2 percent this year. Private analysts believe growth will range between 1.5 percent and 2.5 percent. For last year, Beijing reported the economy grew 6.1 percent."

Don't believe the IMF, believe China.

From the article:  China’s debt-to-GDP ratio increased by 11 percentage points in 2019—and by a stunning seven points last quarter alone. It is now pegged at 317 percent.

Do you understand what that means? Don't worry I know you don't because you've never studied Macro Economics.  In fact you've never read an economic book in your life.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, totalitarians love sheep like yourself.  Unaware, stupid, and stupid.
This is Gordon Chang's OPINION and he's the author of, "The Coming Collapse of China".  Riight...
"Foreign Brief is an industry-leading source of geopolitical risk insights." Their reporting, "China’s economic expansion slowed as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, but Beijing’s stimulus actions allowed its economy to rebound from a -6.8% growth rate in the first quarter to a second quarter result of 3.2%. Today’s announcement is anticipated to reveal that China’s economy has grown an estimated 5.2% when compared to the same period last year."

Go ahead and proclaim to the internet that China has no reason to lie about how well their economy is doing. They are trying to sell the success of their economy to increase investment.
First of all, I'm talking about the third and fourth quarter and not the second because that illustrates my point about the lockdown in China and then you can go ahead and proclaim to the internet that the economists polled are lying about it...

OTH, you can have friends like Donald Trump who gave, as his last act as president, a pardon to Jeanine Pirro's hubby. Well, at least he did 11 months for his felony conviction. "Judge" Jeanine Pirro of Faux news really pushed Trump on it, too. Fox and friends...
