Is Huckabee damaging GOP prospects?

Should Huckabee drop out of the race? What is his angle? Is he damaging the GOP?

In my opinion, no. He is keeping McCain in the news which is a good thing. Otherwise the D's would hog 100% of the headlines. It remains to be seen whether McCain can woo the hard right wing of the GOP. If he can not he will lose for sure. If he can, he will only "probably" lose. In either case it would be a very bad thing to have him out of the news during the time between now and when the D nominee is declared or decided by a court or otherwise brokered.

When I saw this photo in the article the first thing I thought of was caroling. All they need are little books and cold weather outfits, including scarf, to complete the picture.

We FISH you a Merry Christmas- hope this hits the right (noto)chord.

Great photo of Doug's distant cousins.

Deja-vu

Here is another quote from the same author. This is Christianity Steve C. could love. As a matter of fact, the author of these quotes is (in my opinion) perhaps one of the most VCS in history....

"I abuse the priests, indeed, who have so much abused the pure and holy doctrines of their Master, and who have laid me under no obligations of reticence as to the tricks of their trade. The genuine system of Jesus, and the artificial structures they have erected, to make them the instruments of wealth, power, and preeminence to themselves, are as distinct things in my view as light and darkness ; and while I have classed them with soothsayers and necromancers, I place Him among the greatest reformers of morals, and scourges of priest-craft that have ever existed. They felt Him as such, and never rested until they had silenced Him by death. But His heresies against Judaism prevailing in the long run, the priests have tacked about, and rebuilt upon them the temple which He destroyed, as splendid, as profitable, and as imposing as that.

Government, as well as religion, has furnished its schisms, its persecutions, and its devices for fattening idleness on the earnings of the people. It has its hierarchy of emperors, kings, princes, and nobles, as that has of popes, cardinals, archbishops, bishops, and priests. In short, cannibals are not to be found in the wilds of America only, but are reveling on the blood of every living people. Turning, then, from this loathsome combination of Church and State, and weeping over the follies of our fellow men who yield themselves the willing dupes and drudges of these mountebanks, I consider reformation and redress as desperate, and abandon them to the Quixotism of more enthusiastic minds."

One last quote. (These are all mined from the author's personal correspondence, late in his life.) Although these were penned 200 years ago, the similarity to modern religious discussion is amazing. I have read these precise sentiments on this very forum. Pretty cool.

"Of publishing a book on religion, my dear Sir, I never had an idea. I should as soon think of writing for the reformation of Bedlam, as of the world of religious sects. Of these there must be, at least, ten thousand, every individual of every one of which believes all wrong but his own. To undertake to bring them all right, would be like undertaking, single-handed, to fell the forests of America."

Obama's Mama Dresses Him Funny

Actually, it appears that Hillary's campaign found a silly photo of Obama and released it to Drudge.

This has outraged many Obama supporters and backfired on Hillary. Personally, I think it shows a lack of execution on the part of Hillary's campaign. Note to Hillary: If you are going to pull a dirty trick, do it well. wink

Well if you really want to see silly garb (by western standards) go to the actual Drudge story and scroll down. Maybe W. was visiting Hogwarts?

http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/03/05/mccain.bush/index.html

Come on Rod, this is silly. You expected Bush to endorse Hillary? Calling McCain a neo-con...! Karl Rove would slap you.

There are HUGE differences between Bush and McCain. Just ask Ann Coulter. Where's Patrick Keafer? He could explain it to you.

I'm guessing that you want the GOP in general and McCain in particular to suffer and pay for "what Bush has done" Heck, you want the GOP to disband in disgrace.

I still think that you'll get the presidency. You've already got Congress. Surely you don't really buy the McCain = Bush thing....?

Rove Gets His

Gee Rod, just imagine how disappointed I am in this thread. As a long time reader of your posts I assumed that "Rove Gets His" meant that he was brutally murdered, possibly with an extended dose of heinous torture thrown in for good measure.

When I read the linked article though, it turns out Karl was only taunted by immature campus lefties. Yes, they have them in Iowa too. This is hardly newsworthy...
