Well, Jim. Since you are a retired military intelligence officer I imagine that your health care and pension are part of your retirement paid by the taxpayers. Given the system you helped create caused the Iraq war by feeding Cheney false information, maybe you didn't really earn it. Perhaps we should start taking the cost of Iraq out of your check.

By the way, if I am correct, you have Tri-Care, arguably the best health insurance in the world. How much of your care came out of your check? Given the astronomical cost of health care, aren't you collecting unearned dollars yourself?

Except for the bank takeovers forced by the hands off capitalism which you advocate, Obama is not taking industries. In fact, all he is doing is forcing a little "trickle down" in the economy, a concept that you conservatives embrace like a cheap hooker. Sadly, when all is said and done "trickle down" doesn't.

Hi Jack,

It appears that you are a newbi with only a half dozen posts before 10/7/2008. Many of us here have been reading every post and posting ourselves for years. As one of those, I haven't noticed anything really out of line lately compared to other periods on the Politics forum. You missed out on the Glen Holzer era, you probably didn't see how we all pulled pulled together to support Jim Babcock when he was injured, you probably aren't aware that one of our current posters was on record saying that it was all a game to him and that it really made his day when he got the other side's goat, etc.

That being the case, old timers here really don't know how to act. Can you point out some of the posts which you find objectionable so we can have a feel for your baseline. We don't know what to expect from our new Rookie Sheriff. wink

Unlike Bush, however, it doesn't look like Obama will be wasting much of the taxpayers catsup on his shoes because he puts his foot in his mouth. wink

There is big problem with this report in the following paragraph in the article:

"Our review indicates that there is currently no evidence to support the selection of organically over conventionally produced foods on the basis of nutritional superiority."

I'm sure that the non-organic foods give you a lot more juicy, nutritious pesticides. shocked

As far as fresh fruits are concerned, I'll take organic every time. Most non-organic fruits are picked long before puberty and often never get ripe. Nutritional values may be similar, but organic wins the taste and texture test hands down.

And libs wonder why citizens are arming themselves. I agree with the father, many of us will be happy to defend ourselves and family against the terrorist hit squads that do the bidding of the fascist Obama regime.

There is an old saying that if french fries are free we will eat a lot of french fries. This holds true for health care as well. If the libs and socialists are successful with implementing Obamacare, then the demand for health care services will skyrocket. Many doctors are concerned because among the reforms in the currently proposed bill Obama and his friends in congress will be limiting what doctors can charge. I have some doctors that I am seeing and I have asked them what they think of Obamacare. There were a couple who indicated that if Obama and the socialists are successful that they would be going back to school to change professions. So under insane liberal policies demand for health care would sky rocket while the number of doctors decreases. I guess that for libs this kind of change is exactly what they believe in since everyone would be equally miserable. How liberal.

You are right about one thing, though, Jim. If 40 million people who do not have health care did get health care, demand for normal health care procedures would go up, but ER visits would plummet and fewer would die unnecessarily. But, conservatively speaking I guess you are right, they don't have enough money for health care so they deserve to die.

What a fear mongering bunch of BS. Neither Medicare or the current health care reform will tell a doctor where to live, much where you must live or work.

Here are some quotes from Reagan's speech:

"Tell him that you believe in government economy and fiscal responsibility, that you know that governments don't tax to get the money they need, governments will always find the need for the money they get."

This pretty well demonstrates Reagan's credibility. He is, as you know, the one who pretty much invented huge deficit spending by government. A tradition gleefully embraced by the Republispends ever since. Why bother taxing when you can borrow?

BTW, they did copy some things from the Obama economic plan; they have their own version of "cash for clunkers" in the UK. I assume they thought it was a good idea as well.
Did you ask then how Obama compared to Bush?
