Orion in the Dust

Nice job on Orion here. I can appreciate the challenges of combining all those different exposure times. I'll bet it took longer to do than to describe. This object is definitely in my queue with a new refractor.

My take on two winter classics

I especially like how the reflection right below the horsehead stands out. This is really a challenging region with that bright thing in the middle.

Looks nice. I know it is mostly Ha lighting up the background, but I wonder what those dark clouds might look like if you ignored the hydrogen and stretched everything else way farther? Just a thought. It is nice as it is though.

Very cool shot and very deep. That dust turned out nice and dirty. I guess with the RC, you don't even have to add the diffraction spikes.

Good job. As usual, I agree with your star colors - they look just right on my monitor.

Very sharp. You have the right tools for the job.

I do have questions about the colors and the way the H-a was mixed in. (Your image is definitely "purpler" than some.) Are you willing to share exposure times and mixing ratios?

Thanks,
Charlie

Nice image. And I like your links to previous versions, so it is easy to see the improvement.

Nice colors with the H-a mixed in. 17 hrs is quite the exposure time! (I guess Colorado doesn't have nights as long as New Mexico.)

Another really long exposure - this is another well worth the time spent. I agree that you got the colors right.
