NGC 7331, 6934, 7006

Hi all,

Here is a link to my DSO page, my newest images are in the Subject line. I forgot to take darks for NGC 7006 and had to use darks from another session, just goes to show that a good plan is necessary. It took a while to find 7006, so my results are a bit disappointing for the time spent. I'll know next time. NGC 7331 definately needs more frames and longer exposures.

All shot with the Starshoot camera and my Mewlon 250.

My humble reworked M27

Hi all,

Here is a reworked M27 with my Starshoot. I actually combined data captured on two different evenings (Sept 27 and August 16) which gave me about 50 stacked frames, the data is on the image. Nebulosity did a great job of aligning all the images. I'm rather proud of this image as I think it is my best so far. Also shown is a previous image to show the difference.

Focuser for Orion ED100?

Hi all,

Has anyone replaced the stock focuser on an ED100? If so, what looks good. Was it a major project or easy to do? I am planning to hang an SBIG ST2000 off it.

Darks

Hi all,

I am curious on your method doing darks. I was able to get 3x600sec frames of M1 tonight and shot 3x600sec darks all with the ST2000 XCM. I'm just curious if one dark is enough, if 3 is overkill? When I use the Starshoot, because I'm limited to about 60 second exposures, I shoot about 5:1 light to dark, but with 10 minutes exposures, one doesn't do all that many lights. I am feeling the burn from climbing this learning curve. grin

Hi all,

Here is a globular from late September I haven't seen posted very often. I shot this before total darkness set in so I had some huge gradients. I ended up clipping it a bit, but it's on my list for next year.

Counterbalancing an ED100

Hi all,

I just took delivery of my Moonlight focuser for my Orion ED100. It's quite a beauty but also heavy! I'm trying to figure out if there is a way to add weight to the end of the OTA to balance the weight of the focuser and ST2000 camera on the tail. Has anyone had any experience at this?
