Go to this Yahoo group :

There are a lot of knowledgable members. I would be very careful with this antique.

You can fool some of the people some of the time, but you can't fool an Astromarter. =smile

Help : OM-1 Shutter is stuck

Posted By Timothy Hornbeck

I found the problem. I opened up the bottom plate and found a small piece of plastic wedged between one of the gears. I removed it and the shutter completed it's cycle.

I am still going to have some work done (light seals...)

Thanks,

Tim Hornbeck

One Stop Shop for Astrophotography

Lessons learned with my first roll of film.

- 1/60 at 400mm f/4 is too slow for the moon.

- 30 sec to 60 sec is too long for wide-field shots on a fixed tripod, 5 sec. is the max

- don't waste any more film from my front yard, it's not dark enough

Thanks for the site information. It was very valuable.

The 28mm shot turned out pretty good. The star trails on Polaris was also decent. I had the front of our house and trees as a background. They were very yellow.

Thanks,

Tim

I could only wish mine turned out this great. Wow! Almost text book. Throw in a barlow and look out. Bring on some more.

Saturn Finally

Welcome back! As always, excellent image. Great cloud definition. Did you do an AVI then stack the individual images or did you take individual BMP/JPG images?

Moon-beams from above ...

Wow! Intersting concept. All I can think of is the Terminator and Matrix series. Soon we will be overthrown by machines and be harvested in large fields. =smile

Kind of sounds Star Trek-ish, but remember the communicators (flip cell phones) and the episode with the library and compact disc looking things?

Astronomy Class "Lab Equipment"

Posted By Timothy Hornbeck

I would be very concerned with durability and tuning. The scopes need to perform to the highest quality everytime with the least amount of tuning. You will the not have the following comments made, "Scope #5 is the best and scope #9 is terrible. or Stay away from scope #3, it's a dog." Ask yourself, Is this a class on how to navigate the sky only or does it cover equipment care and tuning? These questions will help you in your equipment selection.

Landlord installed 6 banks of flood lights..

Go to the International Darksky Association site an read up. There are many ways to handle this situation. The site should give you some good ideas.

http://www.darksky.org/

You could go the wasted electricity route.

Good luck,
