Shoul I get Mewlon 180?...if I have a 80mm spottin

Posted By Dwight Bogan

Save your money and get the GEM mount recomended for the 180 mewlon. You are not going to do high power planetary nor are you going to do imaging with it in Alt Az configuration.

Bush Admin wants oil @ 25.00/barrel

Posted By Dwight Bogan

I'm trying to fathom why in the World would the Shrub would want Oil back at $25.00 a barrel is not he and his cohorts in the Oil industry happy as clams at all the profits that they are making. Hey Lets get gas up a dollar a year until we get it to $5.00 a gallon, this is what these people really want. Oh! I get it! So silly of me! The white house is trying to gain support by giving a false perception that they are not responsible for the high cost of Oil. They don't fool me!

3 Apo vs. 4 Acro

Posted By Dwight Bogan

Being that I own a Takahashi FS 78 and the Astro-Physics 92mm Stowaway and having compared these two scopes with larger sized Achro's 4 inch 5 inch and 6 inch in each case the Achro's suffer from contrast and since they are not figured all that well lack in Resolution as well. Yes they got more light grasp OK but its all smeared across the image its not in focus. When you look through a APO such as a Tak and or an AP you will know what contrast and sharp optics are. Achro's only bring two wavelength's to a common focus the other wavelengths and those around the other two wavelengths are simply smeared across the image. APO''s bring essentially all the wavelength's to the same focus. Since my Takahashi is an FS series doublet it brings all the wavelength's to the same focus except for those wavelength's far into the blue end of the spectrum. This renders an object such as Jupiter slightly yellowish or warmer The AP Stowaway brings everything in the same focus. The result on Jupiter is stark white very simliar to what you would get with a longer focal length Newtonian but without the secondary in the way robbing you of contrast. You can try longer focal length's but even if you had a F90 Achromat you will still never achieve the color correction that an APO such are what an Astro-Physics scope can deliver.

3 " apo's

I'd spring for a used Takahashi FS78 they turn up on Astromart from time to time. They are really great on the moon and planets and in Dark skies really perform very well. Even the new price is not too bad. Typically these scope sell for 80 to 90 percent new anyway's. Next size up if the Takahashi FS102 but then the price starts to run away not unless you can get ome for say $1500 or less I'd go for the FS78

You can imagine what I see with the difference between my AP 155 F7 and a Celestron Chinese refractor. There is just no comparison

Does your old achromat have coatings? If so your going to have to repolish and refigure the lens set and the cost more than likely will be prohibitive not unless you do this your self.
That's probably why your not getting any results from google

Brits: US Post-Iraqi War Plans Inadequate

Posted By Dwight Bogan

That Charge was brought up in the US during the planing phase of the war with Irag in 2002. This really an old topic. Its pretty obvious now what the true objective of the Iragi invasion was and it was not WMD's

A world Ruled by Elites

Jim what I sent was a wake up call you had better get you act together the problem is the current Republican leadership the Democrats have been trying to send the warning signs and all you can do is twist everything around. Not unless you are a big money contributer to republican causes to the tune of $250,000 a year or more you are nothing.

Remember this don't ever come around me for a hand out. If you or anyone else reading this ends up jobless homeless broke hungry don't come to me for help. What I'll tell you is go see your Republican see what he will do for you. HA HA if your lucky your Republican will poke you in the eye with a sharp stick
