Ok, so it won't beat any Corvette or Mustang. But I love my 2001 Chevy Silvarado just the same. I've owned it 10 years and have put over 150,000 miles on it. It has never once let me down, left me stranded, or even so much as acted like it wanted to quit--nary a hiccup. It's hauled me and my telescope gear over rough terrain and done farm work, and all it's asked for in return is normal, common sense preventive maintenance. In my opinion, that qualifies it as a bad-to-the-bone auto. I'd buy another in a heartbeat. I love my truck!

Since we don't have "I like to complain about everything" anymore, I'll put this here...

I have an ad up in the equatorial mounts section of the classifieds selling some dovetail rails and radius blocks. So what kind of a response do I get? Some guy asking me if I have a cover for a C11! :S What the heck?

Canon 15X50is binocular questions....

I recently purchased a nice set of Canon 15X50is binoculars from a fellow Astromarter, and have some questions for anyone who might have experience with these binoculars.

I'm curious to know if Canon makes a set of lens covers for these binoculars? I know that a new set does not come with a set lens covers, which I find to be odd, but they do come with a set of eyepiece covers. I looked on the Canon USA website, and the only accessory that Canon lists for these binoculars is a set of anti-fog eyepieces.

I would also like to know if Canon offers any sort of collimation service for these binoculars?

They're a great pair of binocs. The image stabilization feature works flawlessly!

Getting into astrophotography...

This might not be the right forum for this, but I couldn't think of a better one.

After many years of visual astronomy, I want to do astrophotography, especially deep sky. It's something I've wanted to do for a long time, and the great photos that many Astromart members have shared here have inspired me to give it a go.

I have a Televue NP-101is and a Losmandy G11/Gemini. The camera I am looking at getting is the SBIG ST-8300M. The price looks right and it has plenty of resolution. Is there a better such camera in this class that I should look at, and if so, why? I'm perfectly fine with taking black and white photos until I get color filters and a filter wheel. I want to get a dedicated camera rather than a DSLR.

I guess the biggest question I have is, where to start? What should I be reading or studying as a primer before I jump in? I don't know how long it's been since Ron Wodaski updated his book, is it still pretty relevant? Looking on Amazon, it appears to be out of print, as only high-dollar new and used copies are available.

Any advice or insight would be appreciated.
