Found a 4" Unitron M-160

I found a guy that has a 1950's 4" Photo EQ model 160 with weight drive! I dont know the shape of the scope, or if it's missing parts, i plan on taking a look at it sometime in the next few days.

Teeter - Royce 8"

Had a chance to use my 8" f/8 Teeters Dob with Royce optics last nite, the seeing was a good 8! I have to rate the Royce optic as another world class optic, it's rite up there with the Zambutos and OMI- torus optics i've owned!

Jupiter showed much fine detail, the red spot has a more pinkish color to it this year than i've noitced in many years, the moon at 400x was APO like super sharp, images snap into focus. Deepsky also show super contrast with a nice dark sky background, thanks to a very smooth mirror.

I may convert this optic for use in a tube OTA, and mount it on well built, over size EQ mount!

Very old 4" Unitron

I just picked up a old 4" Untrion photo EG with astro cam, 60mm guide scope, and solar screen. I would guess this scope was made before 1958, the tripod has casters, and the tube is made of brass!

The mount and tripd are in super condtion, the casters are easy to remove, and it has the tray light. The Tube and optics could use a good restore job, the paint is shot, as well there is a chip on the 60mm objective! The 4" Objective needs taking apart and cleaning.

This was the weight driven model, the guy i bought it from cant find the weight drive, but i do have the rod, and weight and another part for the drive, the guy said we would look around for the drive. The Astro cam comes in a wooden box with two plates and some other stuff!

It also included many old 1.25" eyep's, no diagonals or any Unihex's!

Dont know what i am going to do with the tube amd optics, the tube is very heavy on the focuser end, and the focuser is the smaller one not the super focuser, it also does not work very well.

Myabe Roland can turn it into a faster APO!!

10" Teeters update on optics

Well dumb me had blamed the 10" Swayze mirror in my 10" Teeters Dob for being a bad optic! I had installed a fan on this scope, and found the fan had caused vibrations at high powers on the planets. Now with the fan removed the planets look super.

After checking for pinched optics, a cooled mirror and collimation, i had over looked the fan.

The scope is out now giving wonderful views!

Ordered a PST

Ordered me a PST from Anacortes!
Since everyone likes the PST, thought i would give one a try.

I plan on using it with my 2.4" and 4" Unitrons mounted with the Uniclamps and ring mounts,or maybe i can just mount the PST on my 2.4" Unitron mount.

Took out the old 2.4" Unitron out with a glass filter,for a quick peek at the sun.
The sun was spotless!

Talk about hot, its 93 out. Should have my new PST this weekend!

FED-EX == NO PST scope

FED-EX dropped off what i thought was my PST today, so i open the box and what do i find, some kind of pump!

The driver gave me another persons box, from another part of town.
So now i have someones pump, and God only knows where my PST is???

I would hope by Monday they bring my PST!
