The triple transit is on March 27/28,from 3:00 am,EST to 3:20est,when three shadows will appear on the planets disk.

You should definitely get the long tube version,much better high mag.performance. The short tube is for low power wide field views and has lots of chromatic aberation at higher powers"purple haze around bright objects".The longer tube scope will also have some chromatic aberation but not nearly as bad as the short tube.

Great sketch of the double transit,next May's issue of S.and T. has an article on sketching Jupiter and some templates interesting stuff,but I'm sure you could teach them a thing or to about sketching,grat job again and keep them comming.

great report last evening I also took a look at the skyshow in binoculars,awesome,the earthshine was really bright and you could see the maria on the darken moon,Mercury was very bright and easy to see, the ecliptic meet the horizon at the steepest angle possible and 5 planets showed up in a row.
