I am not sure everyone knows this, but John Force team mate Eric Medlen was killed in testing with his NHRA Funny Car, on a testing run after the NHRA Gatornationals in Florida. He died Thursday night. The sport has lost a great friend and racer.

Boy Scout Troop needs planispheres

Hi. I will be doing a presentation for a Boy Scout Astronomy Merit Badge in the next couple of months, and I'd like to know if anyone has perhaps 60 or so small plastic planispheres they would like to donate. I considered printing some out on card stock, but am hoping for something more lasting. Something they can take along on campouts keeps their level of interest up. Please let me know if you have any.

stacking software compatible with Windows 7

Hi all. My trusty Windows XP computer finally bit the dust a week or two ago, and I bought a new 64 bit Windows 7 Sony laptop. I had Registar, Registax and a couple of other pieces of software on the old PC that I am finding out will not run on the Win 7 unit (won't even load). What are your (most economical) suggestions on "need to have" software to do DSLR imaging on this thing? I was able to get Nebulosity 2.2.1 to load, but have not tried to hook a camera up to it yet.

Best body choice for imaging

Hi. I am wanting to upgrade my imaging camera from my un-modded Canon 20D that I have been using to something better. I don't want to spend a lot, and the camera will be used for general purpose family photography also. 1080 HD video capability is another requirement. Can anyone in the forum tell me what body has the best sensitivity to red "out of the box"? Also I would like live focus, and lock up mirror as well. I'm kind of liking the Canon T2i, but have not explored it's options and capabilities in depth yet. I can pick up a T2i at Best buy for $625 or so with a 18-55 lens.

Need help with PHD2 settings for a ST-4

I am wanting to get some imaging with my Canon DSLR and my SBIG ST-4. I have been using the ST-4 both in stand alone mode and with SBIG's CCDTrack which is very tedious. I have downloaded PHD2 and am not sure how to configure the settings to get it to guide. I would appreciate any help from anyone that has experience with this. I have downloaded the latest ASCOM drivers as well.

Connecting my laptop to my Gemini GoTo

Hello. I have been out of the hobby for 4-5 years and am getting back in. I just bought Maxim version DSLR version 6 and want to use it to control my Losmandy G11 with the Gemini GoTo. It is not a Gemini 2. My trouble is, it has been so long since I have set this system up, I can't remember which port on the Gemini box I need to plug the laptop into to control it. Any advice from other Gemini users would be much appreciated. I am also using a SBIG ST-4 autoguider and am using the autoguider port on the Gemini for that.

Annoying alarm on Gemini G-11 Version 4

Happy New Year everyone. It was necessary for me to install the latest version of Gemini for my MaxIm DSLR Version 6 software to connect to the telescope (G-11). I bought a version 4 eprom from Losmandy and installed it with no problems. The software connects to the scope now, but I have an annoying alarm when I power the scope on whether it is connected to the pc or not. I have checked the East & West limits and they are ok set to the defaults. It alarms even with the counterweight down in the home position and never goes off. The scope functions ok, it's just very annoying to have to listen to the alarm all night. Anyone familiar with Gemini V4 that can offer any help would be greatly appreciated.
