One more thing we will be skipping Virgo until 12 months from now that way everybody gets the hang of the thing before venturing into that mess of Fuzzies. 8) Also alot of these things will be Binocular objects, so even if you don't have a scope yet you can still play along.

Bill I live right down I-5 from you in Olympia, I have noticed a rapid increase in Light Pollution here so I know its bad up there. I also agree with the Saturn, Jupiter thing. My best view of Jupiter to date was through my 8" dob at TMSP under much darker skies than I have ever had here.

I have used a few tricks to balance my 8" scope, taping a hammer to the bottom. Velcro and small sand bags. A roll of duct tape just hanging on itself. None of these are pretty but they all worked.

Brad an SCT is a good scope but I am not the one to advise you on this. If its going to be your one and only scope for a while, I would not buy one but thats my opinion only.
