Jupiter in good seeing, Feb 25

Had a great session of seeing this morning, I only wish Jupiter was a bit higher at the time :-)

The seeing stayed good all the way into sunrise, the best data was captured only about 20 minutes before sunrise.

Here's one image, taken at 6:14am local time. The GRS is just coming into view top right. South is up, and the planet rotates from right to left.

Some more reasonable seeing around here this morning. This image was taken at 6:09am local time, well into morning twilight.

Image details: RGB composite: R=60 seconds @ 40fps, G=60 seconds @ 50fps, B=60 seconds@35fps
Camera: PGR Dragonfly2 + TV 5x powermate + extension.
Seeing: maybe 7/10.

The seeing around 6am this morning was just fantastic, as you can see from the result!

This was with Jupiter at an altitude of 40 degrees, and I was only using about 10m focal length instead of the normal 14m that I prefer to use on Jupiter (I have been using 10m on saturn and decided not to change it over).

From now on I'll be going back to the 14m focal length for sure...

Capture: 60 seconds in each channel, R@40fps, G@50fps, B@35fps
camera: PGR Dragonfly2 mono firewire

After a few days of cloud and rain finally a clear night! The seeing was not perfect, but I did find some good conditions around 2.40am, just before the fog rolled in and ended the imaging.

After a long run of cloud, fog, rain, etc I finally got a clear night last night with some decent seeing.

This image was taken with the scope in it's portable setup, the final check out before it gets packed into the car and off to Nambucca Heads for a couple of weeks of sun and perfect seeing on the east coast (fingers crossed).

Thought you'd find this interesting... the LRS is no more! It appears to have been destroyed in its encounter with the GRS on July 1.

Here's a collage showing Jupiter over the last 6 weeks or so, in the last image the LRS has vanished.
