MACH1 - What do you get

G'day All,

I came across the Anacortes ad for the Mach 1 mount and was wondering what do you get for your $5950.00. I know you don't get a complete mount and that you have to spend a bit of extra $$$'s for counter-weights, tripod etc.
Toying with the idea of getting a lighter mount and the Mach 1 looks like an ideal choice, just doing the maths to see what more I have to spend to get a complete mount

Also, before someone points out the obvious..yes I know you have to go on a waiting list and yes I know that I cannot buy from Anacortes because I live outside CONUS.

EM200 USDII Question

I know Takahashi has discontinued the TEMMA EM-USD conversion kit for the USD mounts but I came across an old thread that has me interested and I wish to confirm if it is correct. Apparently the EM200 USDII mount has the required electronics in the mount and only needed encoders and cables. Is this correct and if so were the encoders in the discontinued kit different to the ones fitted to the current TEMMA Jr mounts. Are the required components to convert a EM200 USDII mount to TEMMA still available as individual items.

Also, what was the difference between the EM200 USDII & USDIII mounts?

I guess where I am leading to is whether I could, with some modification, use the AstroSolutions Hand Controller on a EM200 USDII mount...big ask I know but just curious.

Members who don't bother to Rate

Why is that you extend the courtesy to rate a member for a transaction and the person does not bother to extend the same courtesy. I note the member has rate a couple transactions after ours so it's not like it's an oversight. Ok it's not a big issue but it does makes me think why should I bother in future.

I noticed in the classifieds that a 10" Aries f/15 Maksutov-Cassegrain is up for sale but unfortunately it is a pick-up only and part of a package sale.

The scope has me interested but Google fails to show up any hits for Aries, Aries Optical or Aries Instruments. Is the company still in business and still producing the 10" Aries f/15 Maksutov-Cassegrain or was this a limited production?

Takahashi Mount Upgrade

Back in 2010 Takahashi announced an upgrade program for EM (10, 11, 200 USDII, USDIII and older Temma 2) series Mounts to Temma 2M. I believe this service is still available from Takahashi. Has anyone, in particular USD series owners, sent their mounts back to have it upgraded.

I am seriously thinking about this for my EM200 USDII which would provide GoTo capability.

Is the Riccardi Apo Reducer 0.75 focal length limited (f/9 and below) or will it work on an f/12 refractor?
