The AP is optimized for imaging,more portable,and would require a less robust mount setup.Plus it's an AP!

As the name implies,the Polaris is a lighter duty version of the Super Polaris.I believe the SP is rated for 15lbs.The Polaris is probably about 10lbs.

Add a same spec 14.5" f4.3 Pegasus(very good mirror)for $1450 and you get a great scope over $2800 off Starmasters' price.I priced the Starmaster with these options at $8260.
