Hi all,

Got out last night for a bit before clouds shut me down, just as well it was -21 when I quit. Had a nice Cognac to warm up though!
heres a shot of the dome grouping near hortensius, its a stack of 375/1300 using the Atik B&W webcam, 5X's powermate (fl 11000mm) and my 18" Starmaster. I used the Schular IR passband filter again as the seeing was only 5/10.

Aristarchus...sort-of

Hi all,

Well it was really bad seeing last night, so this was more like an experiment... I wanted to see if the IR passband filter would make using my 30" Starmaster more of a possibility. So I picked Aristarchus as a target stuck in the 3X's barlow (about 10000mm fl) and started imaging.
This is only a stack of 25/1000, it was that bad, still if I ever get some good seeing with the 30" I could get an awesome image. The IR did seem to help a lot without it it was hopeless with the 30". So I did learn something out of the experience.

Langrenus

Hello all,

Finally got back to some lunar imaging last night with much nicer temperatures (-2 C) and the cresent moon at a high altitude. But the seeing was atrocious! I gave up after imaging a few objects, only Langreus turned out fairly ok.

Atik webcam, 5X's barlow, Baader 680nm IRpassband filter.
18" Starmaster, stack of about 180 Reg 2

Hi all,

Thought I'd post my one decent image from last night. heres Copernicus for the 1000th time. Stack of 210 done in Reg 2 18" Starmaster, Atik webcam, Baader IR pass filter.
Seeing was a variable 4-6/10

Gassendi--hires!

Hi all,

Just got in from some imaging, the seeing was variable again but there were some moments of 7-8/10 seeing especially for this image. I was quite surprised at the detail I got!
I gotta run and make some supper before my Wife gets pissed, boy shes spoiled!! Still she lets me have the toys too wink

Schiller Mosaic

Hi all,

Decided to shoot Schiller last night at 11000mm fl but I needed 2 overlapping avis to do it, here is the result.
I really like the result its very dramatic! Same details as with my Gassendi pic.
It was a good night I have lots of others!

Prinzley Rilles

Hi all,

Another image from the night I did Gassendi. The rilles around the ruined crater Prinz looked cool through the ep so I shot some videos of it. The little rilles look like minature versions of Schroeters valley, I won't tell you what my Wife thought they looked like :S

Just to give a heads up about LPOD being back to posting new images. Chuck put up my image of Doppelmayer, cool thing is there is a previously unknown dome there!!
Its obvious to me now but it totally missed my eye before!

Jupiter--in IR

Hi all,

Well CSC forecast good seeing last night but it was way off, seeing was at best 4-6/10. That coupled with it being only 39 degrees up made for pretty hopeless avis with the Toucam cwy Sooo I thought why not try the new Baader IR passband filter with the B&W Atik webcam? This made a pretty marked difference! The stack is only 156/1200 but it shows a lot more than in regular light. Still no way to make a colour image in the short timespan of 90 seconds though sad Best way I can think of is to (this is a money no object solution 8O ) get 2 firewire or Lumenera cameras one a B&W for the L shots and a colour one and mount them on a swivel turret to quickly switch between the 2. Trouble is I can't even convince my Wife that ONE more camera is a good idea :S
