Insurance Requirement: Borrowed From GOP

Posted By Dale Conrad

Rod, Just goes to show that some Republicans are on your side. grin grin Doesn't that just chap your hyde? The R lable doesn't indicate that they have a lick of sense, just as the D lable doesn't allways indicate they are idiots.

Advice requested

Posted By Dale Conrad

Floyd, I have a ten year or older tangent arm MI-250. My older one works like a dream and I know improvements have been made to the newer ones. If you get a decent deal on a newer one I doubt that you will have much buyers remorse. grin grin

Rod,
The The Obama administration may not own GM but the U.S. Treasury holds about 60% and the Canadian Govt about 12%. Looks like nationalized GM to me. grin grin

Okay, so he lied...

Seems it was Pelosi who said the Dems would have to pass HCR so they would know what was in the bill. I can't remember if that was before or after she said it was carefully crafted; think it was after. With great intellects such as Pelosi making monumental decisions; I can see a future third world nation emerging. shocked

Why do we provide these people an education?

The end comment by the woman is what you would expect from a supporter of hamas. Earlier she intimated that it would be dangerous for her to condemn the terrorists when she asked if Horowitz was trying to put her on a cross. I would have to say she speaks well for her religon also. I also doubt that the staff of the university will be outraged by her racist comment will they?

guiding and mount drift

Posted By Dale Conrad

Floyd,
I do beleive that most guiding software picks the spot it will attempt to keep the guide star on that spot. In other words the point of reference doesn't change so once the error is to the minimum correction setpoint a guide command should be issued. The sample rate nor the cause of the error should make any difference; the guider should always try to return the guide star to the origional reference position.

Re: Camera focal length

Posted By Dale Conrad

You are trying to get the camera to a point of focus. The focal length of the lens doesn't change. Anpther way to get an approximate length of the extension is to mount the camera to the scope and extend the focuser all the way out. Measure the distance from the center of the lens to the focal plane mark on the camera. By comparing the measured distance to the lens focal length the difference will be the additional extension needed. From the optical center of your lens to the focal plane of the camera needs to be about 30.7 inches when using the camera adaptor.

Short tube vs. Long focal length refractors

Posted By Dale Conrad

If you add a fringe killer filter to the optical path the f8 instruments will perform pretty well both for visual and photography. Since most deep sky object are not rich in blue, CA is less of a problem for photography, you will still wind up with more blue around stars in the image. The 100ED scopes seen for sale may give you a little better image quality. Just my two cents worth, it's always a battle between the budget and what one would like. grin
