Abell 12

Posted By Paul Maxson

Hi all,

When I saw Adam Blocks' image of this PN, I thought I'd take a shot. I'm pretty happy all in all with it. Details are on the image.

Comments welcomed.

NGC 2392

Posted By Paul Maxson

Hi all,

This one gave me some problem, I couldn't find a convenient guide star until I turned the camera up side down. I'm not totally happy with it, but I'm not sure if it's my processing technique or the seeing.

Uranus and it's moons

Posted By Paul Maxson

Hi all,

Here is a collage of images of both Uranus and Uranus and moons. The disk of Uranus was shot with the Mewlon250/Lumenera at F/25 and resampled 2x. The moons were shot with the Mewlon at F/7.2 with the Starshoot (20x15). seeing was decent.

NGC 2158

Posted By Paul Maxson

Hi all,

This is my very favorite star cluster and finally after seeing it for the first time over 30 years ago, I made an image of it. This was done with my ST2000 camera and the Mewlon 250 at prime focus.

Temma-200 mount

Posted By Paul Maxson

Hi all,

Does anyone know how heavy an OTA this mount can happily handle? By that I mean for guided DSO imaging. Just curious.....

Thanks!!

Saturn March 6

Posted By Paul Maxson

Hi all,

Here is a Saturn I shot on the evening of March 5. I didn't think seeing would be good, but it was better than I thought.

M46 and B-33

Posted By Paul Maxson

Hi all,

I got my EQ6 mount a few days ago and had first light on March 13. I just now had the time to process and publish my first results. The mount holds my Orion ED100 F/9 Apo. I replaced the stock focuser with a dual speed Moonlight, which is really smooth. The goto centered both objects almost perfectly. The mount tracks almost perfectly with the autoguider on my SBIG ST2000 XCM camera. These two images are a series of 600 second exposures (details on the images). The Horsehead isn't great, I hope the problem was because of it's proximity to my house, however the M46 looks decent for my observing conditions.

Image blending question

Posted By Paul Maxson

Hi all,

I remember a while back reading a tutorial for blending short exposure images with long exposure images to help bring out details in burned out areas. My example is the classic M42. I have a series of 120 sec frames where the trap is burned out and a series of 2 sec images that show the trap and want to blend them. I know it has to do with layers, like in Photoshop, but I'm not sure of the steps. Does anyone know of such a tutorial?

Thanks!!

Another IC 434

Posted By Paul Maxson

Hi all,

I took the advice of several people and added more data to my original Horsehead image. The image represents 2.75 hours of exposure and came out much better. Probably a good 3 hrs of H-a would be really nice, but that won't happen this year. For now, this is it....on to galaxies!!
