IC 434 reprocessed one more time

Posted By Paul Maxson

Hi all,

I started totally from scratch on this. I do not think I have a good set of flats for my ED100, so I re-processed with only dark frames. The range seems wider and while it doesn't match the great images I've seen this year, I'm not unhappy with my little effort. **grin**

Another (my last attempt ?) reprocessed Horsey.

Hi all,

Some really great help from a fellow imager showed me how to bring out my horsehead image much better. I am totally indebted to all the really nice folks who are willing to share their knowledge!

Hopefully this will put this image to rest until next year... **grin**

Ole Sol from last November

Posted By Paul Maxson

Hi all,

Gee, can't believe how far behind in processing I am!! I just finished processing some solar from November! This was the big group that swung onto the face just before the Mercury Transit, shot in W.L. and H-a. I hope you like.

NGC 2158

Posted By Paul Maxson

Hi all,

Here is an image I shot last night of NGC 2158. It was probably my last chance this year as during my last frame, I could see the roof of my house in the finderscope. Details on the image. I sometimes wonder if 6x900 is better or worse than, say 18x300 as far as LP (or anything else) is concerned. At any rate, considering almost a full moon and 3 mag skies (with no moon), I'm not unhappy.

Thanks for looking.

Looking for illuminated reticle eyepiece

Posted By Paul Maxson

Hi all,

I'm looking for an eyepiece described in the title, wireless. Does anyone have experience with such an eyepiece? 12.5mm or less is preferred. Also, I'd like to find some .965" rubber caps. I've got a bunch of 1.25" caps, I just need a couple smaller ones.

Thanks!!

Saturn on April 1

Posted By Paul Maxson

Hi all,

With all the wonderful Saturn images posted lately, I felt a little left out. However, the Sunday evening I had some really decent seeing and got this Saturn. It's basically a quick process and post. I shot it with the Mewlon 250 at F/30 and resampled 1.5x.

An old sunspot group.

Hi all,

Still working on November's solar images. I tried my hand at colourizing. Both W.L. and H-a.

Hi all,

Is there such a thing as a Field flattener for the Orion ED series refractors?

Thanks!!

M81

Posted By Paul Maxson

Hi all,

The nice thing about early attempts with DSO is there is always room for improvement. Here is my first attempt at a galaxy with my ST2000 camera. I am sure I will do better. The seeing was not good (FWHM was about 4.5"), but guiding was good. Details are on the image. I'm guessing I probably need more than 65 minutes, but I'm not sure if 10 or 15 minute subs would have been better than my 5 minute subs. Processing fuzzies has some differences from processing stars... **grin**.

Comments and help always welcome.
