Oldest ocular, why you've retained it?

Darian Rachal said:

Anyway, just wondering if there are any of you holding on to old oculars that you just like for some reason, even though you've bought Naglers, Panoptics, Ethos, etc.?

My 1966 Edmund Scientific 1/2-inch Ramsden and 1-inch Kellner. Why? Nostalgia...they are absolutely useless otherwise. LOL!

Should the Colt 1911 be retired?

Lee Spain said:

The Colt 1911 is old fashioned and expensive compared to striker fired polymer pistols. Shouldn't it be put out to pasture? When you shoot them, they are even liable to bite your hand.

NO! They do bite the hand that feeds them...but in a good way...LOL.

Area 51 Book Review

I've heard some far-fetched stories about area 51 and aliens but this one takes the cake:

Anything to make a buck...

"The recovered bodies (two were still alive, but in irreversible comas) were those of children, around age 13, who were rumored to have been horribly transfigured by Nazi doctor Josef Mengele..." LOL! Apparently this innocent has hopped right aboard the old disinformation train. A lot of off the wall stuff has gone on their over the years starting with the relatively innocuous like playing around with nuclear rocket engines that wanted badly to irradiate their makers...to...well, who knows? But Russian saucers with children operated on By Mengele?! All I can say is....wait for it... LOL!!

9.25 vs C11 for Astrophotography

Posted By Rod Mollise

robin woolsey said:

I'm looking to upgrade from my classic C8 that I use for astrophotography to a 9.25" or C11. I have squeezed about as much planet detail out of my C8 that I can and I'm looking for more aperture. I have read reviews that say the 9.25 is designed just for astrophotography, but I see a lot of them for sale after the owners have purchased a larger scope. What ever I wind up with will be mounted on a CG-5 advanced Go-To. Any thoughts on the matter?
robin

The C11 will be fine for planetary work on the C11 and will deliver substantially more than the 9.25.

serial#

I have an old orange C8 Pacific Celestron. Serial# is 314 313. Does anyone here know what those figures mean?
Happy for info smile

Not much. You could determine the year of the scope's manufacture from earlier serial numbers, but newer ones like yours don't tell you pea-turkey.

Cats Leave Biggest Carbon Paw Print

This is going to cause quite a moral dilemna for warmist liberals because liberals are predominately cat people.

Evidence for this assertion? No. It just sounds right, huh? That's what I thought. LOL.

Cats Leave Biggest Carbon Paw Print

Aside from your extremely silly conclusions about the political dynamics of cat ownership...

This is JUST the sort of thing that fuels climate-change-denial. What? These GOOBERS think the cats will agree to stop breathing or just go away? They've been around since before homo sapiens and will, I hope, be around long after the IDIOTS who promulgate such drivel.

That is, of course, assuming this "study" is on the up and up and is not just the sort of disinformation the "informed" get from Beck and the Free Republic! LOL!

C90 dobsonian mounts?

Posted By Rod Mollise

Christian Skorik said:

Hey guys, I recently bought a retro C90 and I was wondering if there are any modern dobsonian mounts that can easily be used with that model. Any tips? Doesn't need to be electric or computer guided, just something simple and sturdy, preferably a single-fork model like the C90 Astro mount.

What do I use with my Orange Tube 90? One of Synta's AZ-4 mounts (aka Orion Versago II). Perfect for the little guy.

Of course, the response is: "not welcome"...duh!

I doubt this goober represents many conservatives--or any of 'em. BUT...I will say, I sat open-mouthed through the story, "He couldn't have said that...damn! That sounds like something Ribbentrop would have said to the Poles! JUST DAMN!"
