Even IF bad guys gave up their guns the older and weaker would be defenseless. You aren't even trying to think this through.
Do you listen to John Lennon's IMAGINE often?
You can imagine there are more than 300 million here?
Let's go through it again for you, Mel, one more time:
The older and weaker example: a 66 year old woman awakens in the night, weak and defenseless, her first impulse is to grab a gun and fire! She doesn't turn a light on, doesn't fire a warning shot, doesn't scream "get out or I'll shoot!", she simply aims and fires thereby hitting her imaginary attacker squarely in the chest! Bullseye! THAT she can do! Her boyfriend never had a chance!
The toddler with a gun example: A woman is on a ZOOM call when a kid grabs a gun and fires, killing her while her co-worker on the call watches! Yikes! What if she got shot in the head? Can you imagine what the zoom party would see on the other end? Just think about that computer screen! Did you ever see the Kennedy assassination in frame by frame slow motion? Brain matter/skull splatter everywhere! Shit!
Not only that but:
"Accidental gunshot deaths by children handling a gun jumped 31% during the start of the COVID-19 pandemic compared to a year earlier, new data shows."
"There were 98 deaths that resulted from unintentional shootings by children from March through December 2019 compared to 128 over that same period in 2020, research by the advocacy group Everytown for Gun Safety shows."
"And the trend continues to worsen during the pandemic, the groups says."
"So far, in 2021 there have been at least 259 unintentional shootings by children, resulting in 104 deaths and 168 injuries nationally, according to the group's #NotAnAccident Index. Everytown is a U.S. nonprofit that advocates for gun control."
"At that pace the organization projects these incidents in 2021 are set to surpass even the record reached in 2017. That year 383 cases of accidental shootings by kids occurred and at least 156 people were killed.'
