I had a 6" AP Superplanetary that had a soft image with CA. There are some that swear their 6" f/12's are the cats meow so you decide. I have a AP 130 from 1994 and a AP 160 that are crisp and sharp. I think if you buy any AP refractor EDT or newer you can't go wrong. Not every early scope that came out of AP is as consistent or good as current productions. Martin

I had a similar experience with my 25" Newtonian. The weight of the mirror caused my collimation to change during the night as the weak sling sagged in the humidity (lived near Chicago). I changed the sling to a 1 1/2" strip of copper and never had that issue again. It's very possible that if you own a truss style Newtonian the collimation may change because metal parts and wood parts are expanding at different temperatures. I find my collimation changes all night as my temperature drops, which is often close to 30 degrees fahrenheit at my high elevation. I think it's the wood and metal since other problems have been eliminated. Hope this helps. Martin

Greg at least you received your mirror back in one piece. They put a rather large chip in my one of a kind classic cassegrain secondary. OMI pretty much told my to get scr**ed even when they admitted it was chipped in house. Get your money back and take it to L&L for coatings, Floyd gave you some good advice. Martin

Your image looks very similar to what I observed just a day or two after your image was taken. At only 9 arc seconds good seeing and patience is necessary. I enjoyed the image and thanks for posting. I'll keep observing as Mar's recedes and I hope you keep posting images. Martin
