Orion Atlas AKA EQ-6

I am looking for someone who has used the max spec weight on the Atlas, about 35 lbs I believe. I am thinking of putting a 35+ lb newt on it for visual and planetary webcam imaging and would like input from anyone who has had FIRST HAND experience with the max load on the mount. How does it track with that load, would it be OK for webcam use (Jupiter almost filling the laptop screen) Thanks, Vince

Saturn 10-16-04

Seeing was poor but its my first Saturn of the season. Although the result is poor, the camera did manage to capture the greenish color of the SPC.

20" Newtonian @ F9, Toucam Pro, 1100 frames, seeing P4, high thin cloudcover.

This was my first Saturn of the season. Although the result is poor due to P4 seeing and high, thin cloud cover, the camera did manage to capture the greenish color of the SPC. 20" Newtonian @ F9, Toucam Pro, 1100 frames stacked.

Upgrading old mount

motors for use with autoguider

I am curious as to what types of drive motors are required to use an autoguider, 12 VDC, AC synchronous? I will probably purchase the drives from Optic Craft. Also if you have used those drives, or mounts, I would love to hear your input, thanks, Vince

The fisrt quarter moon is low, seeing poor to fair with intermittent clouds but this turned out OK.
C8 @ F20, Toucam Pro, 92 frames.
