Here is a very nice telextender that you can find in any decent hardware or plumbing store. Just cut to desired length and spray inside with flat black paint. Remember-CHEAP IS GOOD, FREE IS BEST.

Here is a variable length extender that will fit your budget. It's available at any decent hardware store for less than two bucks. Cut to fit, paint the inside flat black, and you're ready to go. May also be used as a sink drain fitting.

Every now and then, a bird will fly into our picture window and knock itself silly. when this occurs I place the bird in a hanging basket to allow recovery. It affords me the opportunity to do some macro photography which is probably sort of rare in dealing with wild birds. This one is a male Goldfinch in molt.

I took these shots last Friday at the Ft. Worth tropical plant conservatory. There were many varieties seen, numbering in the thousands, flying freely. A beautiful experience. This one is a Blue Morpho.

DSLR question.

I would like to know if a DSLR with a 300mm lens will produce the same image magnification as the same focal length on a film SLR. My Panasonic FZ20 has a max zoom of 72mm and is comparable to a film SLR with a 432mm lens. Thanks in advance to all you gurus out there.

ENTOMOLOGIST NEEDED FOR THIS ONE

I keep seeing this strange insect. It is under 1/4 inch long and has huge jaws. It carries dead ants on its back which are somehow tightly adhered. this image is of what you see; a moving clump of ants, and ant parts. Notice the ant head at seven o'clock.
