From your own link, Mike, note the words, Court-Approved and Court Allowed. Bush administration, they didn't bother with the courts so much. Yes,it was criminal when the Bush Administration did it.

That would be news to the Richard Davises and Mike Streibers of the world. The fact is that all newly elected Presidents move to the center, but skew to their own particular policies, like Obama putting science back and having stem cell research at the forefront again. They're the presidents of all the people and some compromise is inevitable. You have to work at the margins, like picking supreme court justices. Bush did with Roberts and Alito.

Obama did it with Sotomayor and if the rumors are hopefully true, with Roberts packing it in.

His only judgement is based on how best to get the nomination. He realizes, along with most of the Republican establishment, that Palin, especially after her palm reading fiasco, is a joke and he just wants to curry favor with her supporters. Palin now declares the crib notes on her palm is just what God did. The last refuge for the demagouge is declaring that God's on your side. She has jumped the shark on the way to her new reality show and $100,000 speaking fees.

Yeah, And I heard he's against Mom, Apple pie and the American flag. And I'm sure there's a right-wing blogsite somewhere that claims he wants to take away candy from little babies.

Obama's economic adviser, Christina Romer, responded to the jobs report with cautious optimism.

"Even as today's numbers contain signs of the beginning of recovery, they are also a reminder of how far we still have to go to return the economy to robust health and full employment," Romer wrote on the White House blog.

"There will likely be bumps in the road ahead," she continued. "The monthly employment and unemployment numbers are volatile and subject to substantial revision. Therefore, it is important not to read too much into any one monthly report, positive or negative."

This is for all the 'Sky is falling after reading one article' Republicans. It took eight years for Bush to get us into this mess, it's going to take a while to get out of it, with all the Republicans sitting on thier butts doing nothing and blaming Democrats for not accomplishing anything.

- The independent, highly respected CBO said this is going to reduce the deficit by $1.2 trillion over the next two decades. And eventually more when we get the public option in, providing competition in the system. Remember when you conservative used to like competition?

The healthcare bill will become old news in a month and Republicans will still be making headlines of it right into November, loading the bases for a homerun by Democrats. By November most people will have only experienced the positive from this bill, and not the negative yet. Clearly, most people don't like the bill and certainly a majority of people didn't like the process. Most people don't like the war in Iraq either and clearly that process was flawed but even that wasn't "repealed". Move on Republicans; put this to bed before you run it into the ground in the form of a defeat in November. Move on Republicans, move on before you snatch defeat from the jaws of a November victory. Move on to immigration; let's see how bad we can screw that up.

I usually disagree with you but I thought your post was well thought-out and correct on several fronts. Two things stood out. I thought that was one of the things that disturbs me about this debate when you said, "Well ok, call me a communist, but call my daughter insured."

We all get called up in the passion but when one side constantly calls the other commies, socialist, marxist, totalitarian thugs and other Davisisms just for having a different view, that's way over the line. That's the one reason I got into posting on this forum so much is that it enraged me that views and policies and people that I supported, instead of being logically debated because there always is two sides to the issue, were constantly being denigrated and demonized.

Also, to the point that Republicans moving on, I'm all for that, to get their input and support and votes but when you get to the point that we're at now, with ZERO Republicans voting for health care reform, you have to wonder, is it just a political ploy or a moral certitude about their beliefs, this from a party that was fired from power by the American people for their mishandling of war that never should have been fought in the first place, tax breaks for the rich that didn't accomplish anything except make the rich richer, and the incompetence of the handling of the Katrina disaster. Their track record doesn't inspire confidence.

I'll end it by saying that Republicans have legitimate views too, but they're never getting anywhere by commie, socialist, marxist, birthers, deathers route instead of honestly debating the issues.
