Nuclear Alert?

I'd be more concerned about these types:
"Nevada Gov. Steve Sisolak (D) faced violent threats from at least two men who spewed misinformation about the coronavirus pandemic and threatened to hang him at a Las Vegas-area restaurant over the weekend."

Still, Russia has devolved into little more than a kleptocracy run by an increasingly isolated madman losing his grip on power. At least when you had the politburo, there was some dissemination of management and decision-making.

The only choice seems to be to arm the Ukrainians, slam Russia with sanctions, and continue to hope there are people in charge with cool heads somewhere in Russia.

If the universe is listening, I would like to get off this historical events run-away freight train. Haha.
Well, I, for one, was comforted by the fact that, when asked if he had any message for Putin, our former president, Donald John Trump, said, " I have no message for Putin."

If we produced enough energy Russia would make less money.
Right now Biden is announcing we will release from the Strategic Reserve.
Would have been better to just turn up the tap a little.

Gawd, now he is back to trickle down and high speed internet. And he still wants to fix some bridges!
Here are the 10 countries with the most oil production:

United States (12108)
Russia (10835)
Saudi Arabia (9580)
Iraq (4620)
Canada (4129)
China (3823)
United Arab Emirates (3068)
Kuwait (2652)
Brazil (2604)
Iran (2213)
We can afford to release some oil...
And, we desperately need to rebuild bridges in this country that are falling apart. Maybe one day you'll get that through your head but I kinda of doubt it...

In other words, like Trump, you have no message for Putin...

Just responding to Mel's "thinking" on the matter.
That said, if we're talking about the topic of the thread, we're talking about saber rattling. If we're talking about what the Russian people hear in Russia, we're talking continuous propaganda centering on how Putin is justified in assaulting Ukraine because: 1. NATO wants to bomb mother Russia and 2. Ukraine is inhabited by a bunch of nazis.
Certain people have a message to send about that and certain people don't...

Quite true, and an interesting "what if" Trump was still in power, according to John Bolton:
“Russian troops would be in Kyiv already.” Not, he said, because of any understanding between the two men – critics said they were overly cozy – but “because I think Trump had no understanding, no realization, of what the loss of Ukraine to Russian control would have for the security of Europe. He was more concerned about finding Hillary Clinton’s computer server. He was more concerned about the allegations that Joe Biden’s son was making money off the Ukrainians, and this web of conspiracy theories.”
"Trump – who boasted how this current war would never have happened under his leadership – “badly damaged Ukrainian-US relations, and I think that were he elected, Putin would have seen the opportunity right there to fracture NATO."

Unlike Trump, who doesn't tell the truth any of the time...
