TOA-130 planetary first light

Posted By Paul Maxson

I decided to do first light with the moon and Mars with the TOA-130 (I already shot a below average M-45 a few days ago). Here are just a couple of the results. The lunar image was shot with a 3x televue and DMK21 mono camera with Astronomik green filter. I pushed Mars as far as I could (reasonably). It was shoot with the SKYnyx 2-0 colour camera, 5x powermate plus 1.5" extension giving an efr of F/50. I was pleased the the mount tracked it so nicely and the image quality isn't too bad.

Updated first light images

Posted By Paul Maxson

Hi all,

Here are three first light images with the TOA-130 on the moon and Mars. Seeing was only average, but I see potential. DSO images will happen after I get rid of the moon.

Mars Dec 19, 2007

Posted By Paul Maxson

Hi all,

Here are a series of images from Dec 19. I finally got what I consider a decent colour images by combining images from the DMK. I did an IrRGB for that image.

M45 and first DSO light with a TOA-130

Posted By Paul Maxson

Hi all,

I finally got my TOA-130 mounted and of course couldn't resist trying an image. This is M45 shot with my ST10, 9x600 subs. There was a huge amount of blooming, but I kinda got it under control with Ron Wodaski debloomer in Maxim DL. I'm not too unhappy with my first try, the scope/mount tracked well which is a start. I definitely need flats and more practice.

Thanks for looking.

Mars January 11, 2008

Hi all,

It feels like forever since I posted last and finally I have images to post. The Mewlon is at TNR getting a 3 year tuneup so these images were shot with the TOA-130. Not too bad for a 5" scope. Besides it is allowing me to practice LRGB imaging with my new SKYnyx 2-0M camera (it's the LRGB image in the middle). I am hoping to see the Mewlon back in a couple of weeks.

M35 - NGC2158

Posted By Paul Maxson

Hi all,

I think this turned out pretty well, especially after I got some good flats. NGC2158 is my all time favorite cluster.

Mars Jan 16, 2008

Hi all,

I'm still without the Mewlon and using the TOA-130. Can't wait to get the big scope back. These images show two things, one is Mars, the other is a contrast between me using the SKYnyx 2-0M and the DMK cameras. Each is an LRGB image and setup with the same setup. The histograms in both was about the same. The SKY shows odd colour this time around for some reason.

Registar question

Posted By Paul Maxson

Hi all,

I'm working with this program and am a bit confused. Does anyone know of a work flow tutorial or documents that show how this program is used with other programs like CCDStack. Or maybe someone uses it and can give me a little direction.

Thanks in advance.
