Russians Bombing Nuclear Power Plants

Posted By Rod Kaufman

Those crazy Ruskies are dropping 'em all over the place!
"Ukraine’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Dmytro Kuleba warned that if the plant explodes, the blast would be “10 times larger than Chernobyl.”

Gas Will Be Very Expensive

Posted By Rod Kaufman

Gas is very expensive, especially in Ca where we've got around a buck per gallon in added taxes which the voters had a chance to repeal but didn't and now they're paying through the nozzle for it and getting little in return in terms of tangible road improvements which, in turn, would likely be funded by federal programs anyway.
But you can buy electric vehicles and I've picked out one for Greg when he wants to spend his money to buy one: as described in the latest annual auto issue of Consumer Reports, the Chevrolet Silverado EV pickup truck is offering four-wheel steering, adaptive suspension, super cruise, up to 664 horsepower, 10,000 pounds of towing capacity and an estimated 400 mile driving range. All for the bargain price of $105,000. Greg can tote and sell a lot of barbecues to pay for it, too...

You probably could. My daughter recently sold her Kia Soul GT turbo that she had bought new in 2020 for more than she paid for it at the time! Enough to make a good deal on a new Subaru CrossTrek Sport with Dual X-Mode which she had to order from the factory in Japan and arrived at the dealership and into my daughter's hands two weeks ago. She wants to do some mild off roading around Joshua Tree and similar areas and now she'll be able to while getting good gas mileage to boot!

Glad to know your sons made it out unscathed from those accidents. Subarus are tough and we like our Forester, too. BTW, Subaru is listed in this month's Consumer Reports annual auto issue as being number one in reliability out of all car brands...

I agree your description of the idea in the link is "very simple" but it is a slam dunk to argue with.
The reason NATO is not defending Ukraine is because Ukraine is not a member of NATO! That's what's really simple to understand here. If it was, then all NATO members are obligated to respond accordingly and not at their supposed, per the link, option to do so...
PS: At the most, what could be done, although it would likely expand the war, would be an establishment of a no-fly zone over Ukraine. Russia's air force would be blown out of the sky, and Vlad, being as obviously crazy as he is, would probably respond with nukes...

Well, there's the "Lindsey Graham option" wherein Lindsey advocates assassinating Putin but Ted Cruz has weighed in and disagrees:

We don't?!

Really? Care to name one who would likely have a greater than favorable rating than what we see now:

Biden's Poll Numbers

Posted By Rod Kaufman

Here's a look at some of the numbers:
"Overall approval rating jumped to 47%, up 8 points from the NPR poll last month. Presidents don't generally see much, if any bounce, out of a State of the Union address. Since 1978, there had only been six times when a president saw an approval rating improve 4 points or more following State of the Union addresses, according to the pollsters. Three of those bounces were for former President Bill Clinton.
Ukraine handling is up 18 points to 52%.
Coronavirus pandemic handling is now 55%, up 8 points.
Economic handling up 8 points to 45%."
