Gee, the things that Liberals, Leftists, and Greenies never consider

"That trend is chipping away at the long-held narrative that drivers aren’t ready for electric cars, and it’s leading some analysts to recalibrate their predictions."
“We used to have a lot of very definitive forecasts,” said Tyson Jominy, vice president of data and analytics at J.D. Power, a global consumer intelligence company based in Michigan. “We’ve had to kind of blow those up because the rate of adoption is going much quicker.”
"Last year, electric vehicles accounted for about 2 percent of all car sales. This summer, that number jumped to nearly 5 percent of light-duty vehicles like SUVs and sedans and more than 20 percent of all passenger vehicles sales, according to recent data (Climatewire, Sept. 24)."
“EV sales are pretty much going gangbusters,” said Ryan Gallentine, a policy director at Advanced Energy Economy. “You see automakers moving to start building EV-only assembly plants and announcing these new battery manufacturing facilities — to me that says they’re betting their business on EVs.”

The automakers don't see it your way:
"There’s no longer any doubt that the auto industry is going electric. Every international automaker is introducing battery cars, and plug-in hybrid options are increasingly part of model lines. But some auto companies have gone further, and actually set dates for when they will produce only “electrified” cars (batteries and hybrids) and/or pure EVs. Others have set dates certain when they’re going to stop developing internal-combustion engines. Some have already stopped."

Mel or the automakers, whom to believe?...

This would FAIL HUGE without trillions spent by the gov. Why in the hell DO YOU NOT SEE THIS????????
Hey dummy, you read into it what you wanted to read. The link is referencing a timeline: "It is a matter of time, but the timeline...A significant boost in the EV timeline could be dependent on two pieces of legislation currently in Congress: the $3.5 trillion reconciliation package and the $1.2 trillion bipartisan infrastructure deal."
So, it's not a matter of if but when. As noted in the link: "analysts say the writing is on the wall."
“The bottom line is the investment dollars are now all going toward EVs, which means that the tidal wave is coming,”

Your answer?  Wrong.

Your answer to that is too basic for the discussion.

Here was my posting.  And you'll see the question I asked you:

RD said:   So you're saying that batteries will be replaced under warranty, even if they cost $20K with the increasing costs of batteries, since costs of lithium to make the batteries has gone up 472% in the last 12 months.

Ok, so then tell me, what will that do to the retail cost and manufacturing of electric cars in the future?

Notice the bold print above.

You responded this way to the question In boldface above:

Fake Rod said:  The more supply, the less demand and the lower the costs.

I asked a question regarding the cost of BATTERIES in the car and HOW will the increased costs of batteries as the elements to produce the batteries play into the cost of cars in the future.

You answered a different question or else you didn't understand the question period,  which is why you are wrong in your answer to my question.

Follow along.  Its pretty simple.

The Supply and demand curve does not take into account certain FIXED costs when it comes to the science of economics.

Batteries in Electric cars are Fixed Costs, Fixed Costs, Fixed Costs.

I stated that fact 3 times because Joe Biden likes to say things 3 times and when he does, you believe every lie he tells as long as he says it to YOU in triplicate.

Fixed Costs are something that producers necessarily have to pass on to the consumer, no matter what they'd like to do.

There are a lot of areas in automobile production that MAY cause the price of a car to decrease but battery costs are going up..

Lithium batteries haven't gone down in price, they've gone up.

They have been in hand held tools for quite a number of years.  They are expensive to produce, and they have a life span.

Do you understand that fact? I hope you do.

Currently, the cost of lithium batteries in vehicles drives the costs of said vehicles by about $15,000.

You understand that Elon Musk, of Tesla stated that his cars necessarily cost $52,000 DUE TO the cost of the battery pack.

He stated that if he didn't have to pay for the batteries, that the cost of a Tesla would be about $35,000.

Now then, the article that I linked was referring to the cost of lithium batteries for cars going up by a factor of 2.5X to about $25K from $10K, because of the increased costs of the raw materials needed to produce those batteries.

Since You got the first question wrong, I'll give you another shot, assuming you were confused about the question.

Do you want to try again, or would you like to simply stay Wrong in your response?  wink
"Your answer to that is too basic for the discussion."
Lol! Compared to your typical twisted and whacky diatribe, a direct and accurate reply from me or someone else is at least a breath of fresh air.
That Said:
"The cheapest Tesla you can buy right now is the Tesla Model 3. According to their website, you can order a new rear-wheel-drive base Model 3 for a price of $48,190 with destination before any incentives. That's $2,000 more expensive than it was earlier this year following the latest round of Tesla price increases.Mar 15, 2022"

Additionally, there are other all electric non-Tesla vehicles like the popular Kona SUV:
"Previous Hyundai electric vehicles have an even better warranty. 2012-2019 Hyundai hybrid and electric vehicles come with a lifetime warranty that says, “if the lithium-ion polymer battery fails, Hyundai will replace the battery and cover recycling costs for the old battery free of charge to the original owner.” There’s also a ten-year and 100,000-mile warranty warranty on the hybrid system components."
"The 2022 Hyundai Kona Electric price starts at $34,000. This is a drop from the 2021 Hyundai Kona price."
"The 2022 Hyundai Kona Electric Limited price starts at $43,725."

Obtuse moron,
As more and more electric vehicles come to market, the greater the supply, the greater the competition and the less cost of these kinds of vehicles. Although in your case, it really doesn't matter because I don't believe you could afford one or any new vehicle anyway...

Let me explain it again to you DS.

FIXED COSTS are a part of all businesses and since you aren't smart enough to run a lemonade stand, here is the rub.

Try to follow the bouncing ball El Stupido.   wink

When the largest cost in a production project is the battery system, such as the one in an ALL electric vehicle, and the raw materials are going up at a 5 fold increase per year, the cost of the raw materials in the battery are causing the cost of the battery to rise exponentially.

Focus like a laser DS while I educate you.

Since you've never run anything, except your fat mouth, try and open your ears.

Maybe you'll learn something.

Forget about the SD curve DS.  It plays no role in the raw materials costs of the battery as the battery cost is not going down because of SD function.

The cost of the battery system in the electric vehicle is at least $10k added to the price of the vehicle.

That is ALWAYS going to be passed off to the customer.

I purchase lumber and sheet goods to produce cabinets and I have no control over the cost of the raw materials.  They are going up, fast and they aren't coming back down.

I pass that on to the customer.

GET IT??

I'm sure you don't.

CARS have been around for 100 plus years.

Have you seen the average price of a car come DOWN??

The answer is NO numbskull.

Get a clue DS.
" "The 2022 Hyundai Kona Electric price starts at $34,000. This is a drop from the 2021 Hyundai Kona price."
That's a drop in the average price of this electric vehicle. The average cost of most vehicles is up because of increased demand by buyers who can afford them, unlike you. There's also been a decrease in supply of vehicles because of a shortage of chips. Less supply and more demand equals higher prices. When chip production increases and supply increases to meet or exceed demand, the rebates begin to appear again. Right now, Chevrolet is offering zero percent financing or cash back on many of their new models, for qualified buyers unlike yourself...
" This March, Chevy is offering no-interest financing for a limited term on the 2022 Trailblazer, Equinox, Blazer, Traverse, Colorado, Spark, and Camaro. That's a fantastic deal when you consider the national average interest rate for a new-car loan is currently about 3.99%. If you'd prefer to secure your own loan, you can take advantage of a $1,000 cash back deal on the 2022 Blazer."

You can still get a good deal on a new vehicle...

The Last 12 Months was when Lithium Raw materials cost rose by 475% which will affect the 2023 model and beyond.

Another clue for you.  ISOLATE the cost of the battery, then get back to the discussion.
You're continuing to be clueless, as usual. The 2023 Kona electric isn't available for sale and won't be until some time in the summer, probably in September. The Kona 2022 is the current model. Pricing will be similar for the 2023 model:    https://www.carsdirect.com/2023/hyundai/kona
