If I had overreacted, I would have already contacted Herb about it. Mel's on notice about TOS violations so perhaps he'll read what he intends on posting before he does it.

Well James,  I don't recall you doing the same thing as Mel or another poster did in the past in which I did contact Herb about at the time my original post was altered. In other words, it's one thing to quote the original post in your response and then in the body of your response to respond or truncate the original post quoted in your response to it but it's an entirely different thing if you change the original post in your initial quotation of it and then respond to the altered quotation in the body of your response. I see forum members doing the former but not the latter and I doubt there's any problem with doing that as long as the initial quotation isn't altered or modified by the responder.

This sort of truncation seems like a good and useful idea to me.  It promotes clarity, especially when one is replying to maybe one sentence of a 50+ line original post that covers many topics.  I have done this sort of truncation routinely.   I see nothing in the TOS that would prohibit this.  I looked at paragraphs 4, 15, 19, and 21 but might have missed something.

Jim
Jim,  there's no problem with what you've provided in your example because you didn't change any of the words in any manner of the original post. The problem arises when you alter the actual text of the original post that you are responding to but that's not what you've done in your example. If you altered the original post by changing words then it's no longer the original post of the poster, it's a bogus post altered by you, the responder. Changing the name of the initial poster, in any manner, for example, is an alteration of the original post and constitutes a bogus post. Changing a name of the original poster, for example, "OUSJim Brown", constitutes a bogus post by the responder by altering the name of the original poster.

I also have not been as aware of the way you were reading my posts as I should have been.
"I also have not been as aware of the way you were reading my posts as I should have been."
The way I was reading your posts? The the heck does that mean? I'm reading your responses to mine in a thread that I'm participating in and you're not aware of the way I'm reading your posts in response to mine or anybody else in the thread? What exactly is that "way" that you are talking about?

Roe Vs Wade Overturned

The draft is often amended in consultation with other justices, and in some cases the justices change their votes altogether, creating the possibility that the current alignment on Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization could change."

I'm not a betting man but this seems like a safe bet that the "A-Team", headed by Alito, has decided the "law of the land"...

That's what it amounts to.

Why are You, and the majority of the rest of the left here against "Science"?

Why do You have no guiding principles that tell you that when Science is being ignored, you should rethink your flawed decision process?

That's a baby you're killing when you perform abortion.

So it is OK to kill "INNOCENT" life to ease the angst of a female who is pregnant and having a baby?

And if you say "It is none of my business", then is it "none of your business" if a person down the street is beating their 6 month old baby to death?

Would you ignore that?

If you wouldn't why is it OK for you or anyone else to turn a blind eye to what is going on in a clinic where doctors don't have to be 'certified' to perform an abortion?

Why are You and the rest of the apathetic  to abortion crowd given a pass in answering that simple moral question.

I've asked many times and you cowards never address  the issue.

So I'll ask again, would you ignore a 3 month, 6 month, 1 year old child being beaten to death if you heard the next door neighbor beating that child to death?
"...Alito didn't "decide" anything."
He and his team of fellow "justices" reportedly made a decision, ie "decided" , by taking an action to overturn Roe Vs Way.
As far as the rest of your rant goes, I'm not going to get into your whacko diatribe about viability issues which had already been decided by the courts up and until the time that Alito and his team of fellow conservative justices reportedly decided to alter it with their "decision"...

Roe Vs Wade Overturned

Senator Susan Collins on the reported disclosure of the Justices on Roe Vs Wade:
"Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine) said on Tuesday that a leaked Supreme Court draft ruling was “completely inconsistent” with what Justices Brett Kavanaugh and Neil Gorsuch told her during their private conversations as Supreme Court nominees."
“If this leaked draft opinion is the final decision and this reporting is accurate, it would be completely inconsistent with what Justice Gorsuch and Justice Kavanaugh said in their hearings and in our meetings in my office,” Collins said in a statement."

And she should be surprised?

No doubt, that decision would piss off a lot of people who otherwise might sit out November or otherwise consider voting Republican...
