In SoCal, we've got the forest service teaming up with private logging companies to allow cutting in areas around Mt Pinos, a popular observing site for amateur astronomers,  that have not been shown to be fire prone, either from lightning strikes or human carelessness. It also ignores local council action regarding its actions:

The above move from the forest service occurred after actions from the Trump administration that allowed the logging operation to go forward...
