I think I understand the trade-offs when designing a corrector a little bit. If you want lower power, you need more back focus or a longer corrector or a little of both. It looks like you could make a parfocal 1x corrector if it were 6" long or so.

But, what about a specially designed pair of correctors that go in the ep holders and finish the job of getting to 1x there? And keep it parfocal with a single ep. Is that possible? I would permanently attach them to my 24 Pans for my 1x widefield setup.

Anyone using a 2" barlow or Powermate with a 2" OCS? I have my 2.5x powermate lying around with no purpose and was thinking about getting a 2" barlow or powermate to use with the 2" OCS. Either as a replacement for the OCS or in front of it.

A while back, I had asked about 2" premium ep's. The list was long and distinguished and the analysis of alternatives revealed no clear winner. So I went with my tried and true method: buy the first good deal that pops up on Astromart. Turns out to be a 35mm Pan, so that's what I got.

I'll compare it to the 40mm Pentax XL, 31mm Nagler, 32mm UO MK80 and any others that the club might have and report back. Sometimes life is simple. I'm kinda happy a 31 Nagler didn't pop up. At least for now

This morning was above avg for around here in MD. I spent most of it watching the GRS transit and its playmate the Little Grey Spot (LGS). I happened to swing over to luna and do some Plato and Alpine Valley exploring. Imagine my suprise when the rille in the Alpine Valley started to show itself.
