I noticed that mom was always carrying food somewhere so I followed and found the nest. It's a perfect hanging nest just as described in the books. I think there will be babies soon. The nest is at the extreme lower part of the photo. It's a bit out of focus as I was looking at the oriole itself when I focused. -Kurt Horsley

This one lives in the tiny "urban swamp" that is directly under the red-tailed hawks' nest. It's literally in between two busy highways that are only about 150 yards from each other. It's fed by the highway drainage system and flows right into the city sewer, so it almost always has a fresh water flow from the ground water and the rain. Considering this beaver lives in the middle of a huge urban city, he's actually quite large. -Kurt Horsley
