Jupiter Double transit 03/29/04

Posted By Paul Maxson

Seeing sure cooperated better last night for the double transit than Sunday morning for the Triple...also a hearty collimination session didn't hurt either. All images shot for 60 seconds at 15fps. The probably degraded the images somewhat, but helped keep the shadows as close to round as possible.

Jupiter 03/30/04

Here is a link to Jupiter shot last night (3/30/04). Seeing was decent, but nothing to write home about. I found out that my Powermate 2.5x is giving me about F/22. I added a 1" extension before the barlow and it raised my efl to F/23. That is how I shot this image. I enlarged the final image 25% and there is little image drop-off. The weather here is supposed to get unsettled by the weekend, but we'll do what we can.

Apologies to Astronomers in Arizona

...those clouds we are seeing...blame me. I just took receipt of a new C9.25 GPS and Vixen 17mm LVW eyepiece today. It may be a while before we see blue skies again... LOL!!

I was finally able to get out and do some imaging last night...seeing cooperated as well!! Tonight, though, a thunderstorm is blowing through, so the scope stays inside!!

First light with the C 9.25!!

Posted By Paul Maxson

First light with the C9.25!! As expected, seeing was quite poor, but I sure see the potential! I matched the 9.25" with a Vixen 17mm LVW eyepiece and when the seeing settled for moments, the image of Jupiter was breathtaking!! Anyway, hopefully the seeing will improve and images will improve too.
