How do you hold your EPs between use at night?

Posted By William Rose

Hey Floyd,
As you know I observe from some pretty weird locations from the equator to inside the Artic Circle. Through the years I’ve tried a lot of different methods of carrying and holding EPs. For most ‘normal conditions’ I tend to use a vest with large mesh pockets but I keep caps on both ends of my EPs (and/or bolt cases). For slightly more inclement places I have a couple waist carriers, again I use caps on both ends. They also work well at sites where you have to keep moving.
In cold climates like my recent trip to Northern BC, I use a small cooler with custom EP holder. Toss in an iron oxide heat packet which absorbs any moisture and provides a small amount of warmth which helps in -40 temperatures.
In hot & humid areas (Cambodia, Marshall Islands, etc.) I tend to use a heavy duty case that seals. (Pelican, Zero Halliburton, etc.) I do add a couple ¾” dia. x 12” desiccant tubes to keep the humidity down.
Like Bill P. at home I take a couple cases out. Since I usually have at least 2 or 3 scopes out, it’s easier to just take a bunch of EPs out. Where I live in the Colorado Rockies there’s not much trouble with humidity. I have a pair of TeleVue cases I seem to keep coming back to at home. Good size, easy to carry, easily arrangeable for different configurations. At home I also use the trays on the telescope/pier to hold the 3 or 4 most used EPs.

The big, green "Circle R" thing

Posted By William Rose

No, the earliest Tele Vue Plossls did not have a registered trademark symbol designated by the circled R. The original smooth-sided Tele Vue Naglers, Plossls, and Wide Fields had the 'NJ' (AKA Circle Slash-U; Circle-NJ, etc.) It was not until later that Tele Vue started using the registered trademark symbol designated by the circled capital letter 'R') so you will not have both on a single eyepiece.
The earliest Tele Vue EPs I own and have seen all have 'Japan' rolled into the EPs black Body and painted green. [see attached picture of a 7mm T1 Nagler].
Cheers

I have no problem with a $12.00 fee but understand the issue regarding the desire to attract the largest possible audience to Auctions & Classified adds.
How about a $12.00 (or more) fee to Post an AstroMart add and access the Full News Articles, as well as the Forums & Articles?
That way Newbies could register as they do now and peruse the adds or buy equipment without making additional investment. The rest of us who want to list items for sale and access Forums & Articles could certainly afford $1.00/month.
Just my 2 cents. Clear Skies!

Can't sign in to new.astromart.com

I've deleted all my cookies more than once and still have to do a "Forgot Password" reset every single time I log into AMart since they changed the website.
As much as I've enjoyed AMart and been a supporter for a decade, I'm about ready to give up and post classified on CN.
Really too bad.

FWIW, I still cannot access AMart without doing a Password Reset!
I've tried deleting Cookies, Changing my Password, etc. but Every Single Time I try and logon, I have to do a Password Rest to get into AMart.
This is becoming ridiculous.
Willing to try suggestions but short of creating a completely 'new' user account, I'm stumped.

Anyone else having problems with the AstroMart website? (Feb '19)

Is Anyone else having problems with the AstroMart website?

Seems Messaging is messed up; Either Doesn’t sent the message or sends it several times. Or keeps showing I have an unread message even after that message is deleted!

I can’t seem to “Edit” Classified Advertisements or mark them “Sold” without trying several times over a couple days.

The website doesn’t seem to want to allow me to place ‘new’ Classified Advertisements. Puts them in ‘limbo’ as "For Sale Not Confirmed"    But then it will not allow me to ‘Edit’ or “Place Classified”.  (?)

I’ve tried two different computers, even drove 15 miles to the Local Library and used their computer with same results.  Just wondering if it’s my AstroMart Account or is anyone else having these issues?

Thanks Darian, I've heard from a couple others who have indicated they think it's conflict with Internet Explorer (IE) and suggesting I try Google Chrome.
Guess we'll see.  wink
Thanks Again. CS

Thanks all, appreciate the response.
Whatever the issue, it seems to have pretty much cleared up!  I used Chrome for a bit but forgot and logged it with I.E. and it appears to be working OK now.
Thanks to the Astomart staff for correcting the problem.
